I didn't want to splurge on one of those so I bought a J-Tech HDMI Matrix switch to do the same thing and control it with RS232. When we have the new building built I'll most likely use this to have a one ecosystem (Blackmagic). Great explanation on how the ATEM TV Studio works!

Hey great video for introducing smart video hub if you want to take it a little further one thing you can do is use companion (with or without a stream deck) to trigger different routings so you could use one button for preservice routings and then with the press of another button change a whole stack inputs/outputs for when the service starts. You can also use something like propresenter to trigger this e.g. when a video ends have the slide go to next which has a Ross talk communication action attached which presses the button for you on companion changing the routing automatically.

Nice video! I'm using a 6x6 HDMI matrix at my church, which sounds similar to the smart hub. We don't have any SDI devices yet, so it works well for us.

Hi Jay! Thank you for doing this video. This is so insightful and very educational. I just wanted to ask you, what's the difference in doing this setup compared to using a bigger video switcher such as ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD that already has more ins and outs?
@nicko5566 Жыл бұрын
Curious how you handled the switching between the cameras for this setup? Can you share?
@AJaytheCEO Жыл бұрын
8 of the inputs where maps to the 8 inputs for the video switcher. The 2 video pros from the switcher became in inputs into the distribution and then they were mapped to multiple display outputs. With this the ATEM handled switching for the cameras and the few designated outputs like the digital wall(recently installed)

@@AJaytheCEO as an operator, what / how would the operator switch form one camera to another camera? Was this done via the ATEM Studio’s buttons on the front panel or in the ATEM’s software?
@BAdams1382 жыл бұрын
The eight outputs out of the hub into the ATEM was major; until that point, there were no inputs, except audio. The hub appears to be a software defined switch that maps inputs to any and all outputs. Also, based on your description, it saves multiple feedlines (SDI, HDMI, etc.) to a device, i.e. one cable per device and the hub will "mix and match" to the input(s). Very well done with the Draw.io visual.

Hello Ajay, Thanks for this great video. I literally had a mind shift watching it! There's one question I'd like to ask though. The diagram/workflow shows that only one cable is connected to the Atem switcher but you labeled it as 8 inputs. Can all the feeds from the smart video hub be controlled or mixed from the Atem switcher without manually switching the signals on the smart hub?

JAY, is there available a HDMI video hub? In our church we are using a matrix switcher witch honestly sucks because every time anything is switched all goes blank and all monitors blink and flash and may or may not come back on with video. Horrible latency. But we are set up with everything HDMI. To convert would be 12 in and 12 out converters or in some cases running new sdi cable. You know what's that's like in church situations.

Sadly, there isn't an HDMI version but unless you need 12 unique inputs and 12 unique outputs I would just do HDMI splitters for the outputs that will share the same display input

I like it, but I changed all my cables from SDI to HDMI and for all the non camera equipment I would have to get a lot of converter boxes. If there was a rack unit that had 8-10 SDI to HDMI and a unit for 8 to 10 HDMI to SDI it might work for my ATEM mini Extreme. The wiring and power plugs for all those converter makes a big mess for the small space I have to work in. Also $2000 ouch!.
@AJaytheCEO2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but this would be a permanent setup and I would do this if I was starting all over again without a limited budget
@lvc3942 жыл бұрын
@@AJaytheCEO I know what you mean, this would solve a lot of my issues redistributing resources. I do like it I just wish there was one for HDMI. I would find a way to throw down the $2000 to get it.

How do you do a separate lower thirds out with propresenter 6?
@napoleonbonilla21462 жыл бұрын
As far as I know propresenter 6 is a one type of display for all kind of thing, for lower third bible on stream i use a free windows program called “bible show” on a separate windows laptop. It’s a lot easier to do on Propresenter 7
