This is the best video of lubing an Okuma reel I have seen. I have just purchased a ABF-80B and was making sure it had lub inside it but was having trouble removing the side plate and your video showed it was held by the rear drag end cap. Thanks very much.

Thank you for another great tutorial! I serviced our Stradic 3000 FJs this season using your Shimano video and that gave me the confidence to dive into my cherished 20 year old Okuma Coronado CD50 using this video. I was always afraid of Okuma’s use of tiny springs (threw in the towel on my cd30 after a failed attempt a couple of years). This went so well, I had the confidence/recklessness to dive into the very filthy anti-reverse after seeing the condition through the lower maintenance. All went great and I can’t thank you enough!

Dennis, I saw your video on the Condor 555 the other day. I have had that South Bend combo since 1989 or 90. It cost me $19.95 when I purchased it. I had used it up until 2015 for freshwater and saltwater fishing when the rod broke. I maintained the reel on a regular basis and now use it as a back-up to my Penn 5500 when fishing. You are absolutely correct when you say regular maintenance and care for a reel prolongs the life of a fishing reel. Even though it was an inexpensive combo, for the longest time it performed well and gave me back more fishing fun than it cost to purchase. I particularly enjoy your working on Ocean City reels since I have 2 which I use regularly for catfishing in the Delaware River. Great videos that are entertaining and educational as well. I subscribed and watch most of your videos. Keep up the good work.

Hi Denis I have the reel back together now. What a tricky reel had to "time" the osculating gear and then jiggle the back lever to get the cover to seat. The reel had a bit of grease but I added some Inox MX8 grease to the gears and I lube my reel bearings with Type A Transmission oil as it stays in the bearing. I clean my reels out with brake clean as it dries way quite quick. Found it at disaster to put grease in the bearings of a reel as the reels gets too stiff. Added the Okuma Cal's drag grease to the pack of drag washers and that makes the drag on any reel smooth. You are doing a good demonstration.

Glad to hear that the video helped. Bait feeders add a level of complexity to a tune up or repair, but you should be afraid to work on them. - Please stay tuned - Dennis

I have the avenger abf 65 it’s similar, the anti reverse is broke what part is messed up in it

It could be the A/R clutch under the rotor if your rotor is not stopping from turning backwards or there is a possibility that something in the bait feeder function - rear drag, trip lever or something else that is impeding the lock if it is the spool that is not locking in place - Dennis

Cyclone reels are generic reels. They are generally sold in department stores like WalMart. They have a good reputation as an intermediate priced reel - Dennis

Do not use mechanical screw drivers on fishing reels or Rifles you will most likely bugger up the head of the screw
@2ndChanceTackleАй бұрын
You are right about that. I have seen too many broken or damaged screws from folks that have tried to power out of it
