Hi! Thank you a lot for this video! With your step by step guide I was able to do my own service on a P2 S80 2.4 diesel!. This coming from a guy who was always told to stay away from tools (since I'm a graduate in history, how about stereotypes😅) Keep up with this content

Aye that's true! The ugliest bit for me was hands down the fuel filter, it was basically cemented there... don't know if the previous owner ever changed it!
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 3 жыл бұрын
@@eugeniocollinassi.1548 Yes, the fuel filter is the absolute worst part of this! I did the same on my old S60 and it took basically 3 hours to remove it which is embarassing! Glad to hear you got there though, determination always wins!

Thanks for sharing the trick on how to reset the Service Message on the computer... it's first video I see where someone explains how to do it. I gave it a try on my V70 that was serviced 1 month ago but still showing this annoying message... and it worked fine !

Hi, great making videos on these good old D5 (pre dpf, those have the black engine plast covers if you didnt know, the later ones with whirl flaps and dpf have the black and grey engine cover) The x's on the dipstick between low and full are actually how many Deciliter there are between low and max if you didnt already know. I love these old volvos, and now i'm buying my volvo nr 8( s80 nr.5) an 2004 D5 of course 😉👍 Keep up the good work 👍 Norway

@@muckle8 No, this ond sas actually manual and it was sold last year (august) But i found another one again, this is an Exclusive and an automatic. It has only had 3owners and was an embassy car before i bought it. It has an overhauled engine from Volvo and is in god condition. Will be completed this spring i hope.

Hey i know its an old video. Do you know about there is an oxygen sensor on volvo v70 d5 2002 . Thanks . Best regards from Danmark
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 8 ай бұрын
Hello, Most exhaust systems will have an O2 (oxygen) sensor to monitor combustion etc in the exhaust system somewhere. If you are having issues try scanning the codes first and a good scanner will point to which sensor it is :)

Opinion on using an oil extractor pump instead of draining it trough the plug? I want to do a DIY oil change and would like to try that method. People say it is a legitimate way to do it.
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say you'd be fine, it gets most of the oil out if you have the engine warm before commencing. Some people say it gets even more out than draining to be honest. If i had one I'd probably use it so definitely be fine!
@alouisschafer7212
@alouisschafer7212 2 жыл бұрын
@@Enginesetc I dont want to buy jackstands, ramps etc just for an oil change you know... not for now at least :). So getting to it from the top is all I can do. The oil is VERY overdue at 37.000 Kilometers and being in that engine for years so I better get to it.

Great video. My 2006 V70 d5 uses loads of oil and exhaust keeps filling with soot. Any idea what could cause that? It's drinking oil like no tomorrow
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yours I assume is the Euro 4 180 odd HP D5 due to the age, not sure but do those models have a DPF? Neighbour has a D5 S80 and that uses a lot of oil and deposits soot a lot and I believe it's due to the DPF, I'd maybe check that as a first port of call. After that, what grade of oil do you use, is it thick enough for the age/mileage? Too thin oil will seep past rings in higher mileage engines
@Left_it
@Left_it 3 жыл бұрын
@@Enginesetc yes, that's the one. DPF keeps filling and can't seem to really properly regen. I do a regen on motorway and then ten minutes later it's blocked again! On second exhaust now. Lotta miles on it (180k). That's a great point on the oil, I used the recommended 0w-30 Castrol, but recently got a cheaper generic brand 5w-30 and seems a bit better? What oil would you say would suit the age better?
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 3 жыл бұрын
@@Left_it I'd definitely delete the DPF if I were you, they dont save the environment anyway and just choke diesel engines that would otherwise last forever. Alternatively get it to do a forced regen and really clear it out. The oil id definitely say 5w40 or even 10w40 if its drinking it and see if that helps. It doesnt get that warm here so not worth having an ultra thin oil anyway
@Left_it
@Left_it 3 жыл бұрын
@@Enginesetc thank you mate sounds good. Ill look into forced regen and ask around about exhaust work it might be a good shout (is it technically 'allowed' and legal to do?)
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 3 жыл бұрын
@@Left_it No problems. It's not technically legal but just find a friendly MOT tester if I were you. The DPF is a crap invention anyway, it saves all the soot then burns it in one go, how is that any better in the long run than just releasing it as and when as part of the combustion process?

Hi. I hope you can please help. Fan of your channel...I have a 2.4d volvo s60. I stupidly ran out of fuel the other week...I refuelled but can has gone into a limp mode. I have full reva but no power. The engine system service required light is on. I've bled the high pressure fuel rail nuts as per your video but I can't resolve. I've changed fuel filter as well. Any tips PLEASE. I can't afford a volvo dealer to fix. Thanks
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 2 жыл бұрын
The running out of fuel shouldt have casued any issues as its self bleeding, might be worth going to a local garage to scan the car for codes as the engine light is on, then you can narrow down the issue.

Mann oil filter or OEM Mahle? The Mahle looks better and is a bit more expensive.
@Enginesetc
@Enginesetc 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say either! I've always used mann in every car as I trust the brand and they do a lot of OEM stuff for other manufacturers/components, but if you feel more comfortable in the Mahle, go for that! I'm sure the Mahle will probably be higher quality, but nothing wrong with the Mann one at all so just comes down to if you want to spend the extra
