Cheers for the safety tips about the spark plug lead. Wouldn't have thought turning the blades would be able to start the mower.

Make sure when you pull the spark plug that the lead is not hanging close to the plug... with your mower, that's nice and easy, but with some of them, the lead will naturally sit right next to it and if you're super unlucky, power can jump across a slight gap and start the motor.

I’m not sure why I skipped over this video, mower envy I guess. Glad I watched it though because now I really want one. I can’t find anyone around me in Missouri that carries the masport mowers. Also can’t find a bagging mower with the hard cover bags.
@BladeMateLawnCare Жыл бұрын
Yeah Massies are mainly around Australia and New Zealand. I think they have an international market, but not huge. The Briggs engine is US made I believe
@markpace779 Жыл бұрын
Yes sir. Briggs also make what we call, “hot” motors for go carts. One day I’ll just break and pay international shipping to get one. I’d also like a work horse like queen Victoria. Thanks for continuing to help people, I’m watching your newest video now. I tell people at work that I may need help. I work a 50+ hour week, soon to be 60+, I work when I’m home by doing various jobs for my family or neighbors, and when I’m not doing that, I watch cool guys like you on KZbin working. Work and a good work ethic are cool in my opinion, just a shame it’s not contagious. Cheers buddy!!!

How do you like this mower for commercial use? I got a President 4000 with the commercial series B&S 850 engine, it was a curb find with a broken front axle and no catcher. Got a catcher for $165 and axle for $70 and fixed it. Wondering if it's a good mower or not. The mulch plug is a pain to fit and I don't want to be shelling out for repairs all the time..
@BladeMateLawnCare Жыл бұрын
Axles seem to be made of paper. Replaced one, and it was bent in the sane spot within an hour. These cut too low in my opinion. Are the 4000s self propelled? If not, they are better than this because the open chute wont clog
@subsonicdeathmonkey Жыл бұрын
My thoughts: That’s a good find. I’ve used a 4000 for years in a semi-commercial environment. The cutting deck is weirdly aligned but that’s by the by unless you are spending well above the $1k mark. If the engine is good, you’ve got a good mower. P.S. keep an eye on chassis bend as the steel is a fraction thin and can bend and get hit by blades if you don’t pay attention or handle it roughly. Enjoy!
@bigchief2331 Жыл бұрын
@@subsonicdeathmonkey Thanks for your comment, good to hear your experience. Certainly seems like a good mower overall, this one is the alloy deck, but both deck and axle seem a bit average compared to my Honda HRU196 which is 20+ years old and built like a tank. But now it has a new axle, catcher and blades it is cutting and rolling beautifully. The engine is quieter than the Honda (probably because it's much younger, 2015 model) and its lighter which is nice. There is only one issue, I can't turn the engine off using the throttle control on the handle! Have to use the switch on the engine and wait for the air/fuel flow to stop. I did some research and hopefully that is a easy fix involving adjusting the lever thing on the engine. Once that's fixed, it will be like new. Certainly not worthy of throwing out, even if it did need nearly $300 of parts.

Great video. I am in the market for a new lawn mower, what would you recommend as I have $600 Aussie dollars to spend. Def want a Briggs and Stratton motor but just don’t know the model to settle on for normal mowing Thanks

I see you didn’t clean & replace the foam around the filter before replacing the whole thing. Is that just not required on the aftermarket filters?
@BladeMateLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
It's not required at all. All it does is prolong the life of the air filter a bit more. The paper filter will keep debris out of the intake. Just a choice I made due to impatience as I was getting rained on at that moment in time.

Flip it on its side, and pull stuff off until you can reach it. Once you're under there, you'll see it's all basic!
