My primaries are Lewmar winches but the principles are the same. There was lots of old grease and other "stuff" clogging mine up the first time I attacked them and I had to wash them in diesel to get them clean before reassembly. The pawls don't seem to wear much but I had to replace some of the springs. Nice video, thanks for posting.

That's the word I was looking for Bob "Pawls" thank you. Luckily our bearings only had a thin coating of grease so didn't have to resort to degreasing them. It suprising how many people put grease in them.

I had to replace pawl springs too, winch effectively reversed under load, I couldn’t work it out until shown. I would replace my springs when servicing.

@@OverlandSea I imagine vlogging is far from the easiest thing to do but your honesty and simplicity make you guys interesting as it's not all plain sailing and too many channels like to skip that detail.
