How to SET Citizen watch calibre E650 AT4008-51E Eco-Drive

I have only owned this for a few days and could not be more pleased, but I believe that Citizen should make it clear prior to purchase that if for example, you live in Sydney, Auckland or Rio de Janeiro, you cannot receive a time signal, which was my single most important reason for buying it.

I was wondering if the watch set itself up at all using the radio reception! :-) Most videos talk about setting the time manually (this video does this very well, and better than most others), but no indication of setting up using the radio function. The problem I had out of the box was the watch was non-functioning. Being winter, not much sun to charge it. I tried a few times, charging the watch for a few hours using cloudy daylight (on a windowsill) or using an LED light in the house. The watch became charged somewhat, and the second hand started moving normally (not skipping at 2 second intervals). I then tried the watch on a windowsill and set it to receive the time via radio. Do this by having the crown in and pushing the lower right button for just over two seconds until it beeps. The watch was saying it was in a "low" reception area "L". I left it for a few minutes, but it seemed to cancel and the second hand started moving at 2 second intervals. Low charge! To solve this I left it for a full day on the windowsill, in cloudy weather. I then worked out which window in the house was facing the German station best. I pushed the lower right button once for just over 2 seconds (the second hand pointer moves to "RX"), and left it with the 6 o'clock position on the watch facing Germany (the radio receiver is at this part of the watch). The second hand now pointed to H, so high reception area (that's good I thought, I'm near the border with Scotland, must be a better windowsill). Every few minutes the second hand would rotate once and go back to the same "H" position. The time would go back to where it should be as if time had advanced since I started the process, but still not the correct time. It did this about 3 or 4 times. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, the watch beeped and the time, date, day etc all moved to the correct time. Mission successful. So, TLDR: before trying to update the time via radio, make sure the watch is very well charged using bright daylight for at least a day, position the watch on a windowsill with the 6 o'clock facing Germany. With the crown in (and the correct city selected), push the lower right button for 2 seconds until it beeps and leave it for 15 minutes. You can always check to see if the second hand is pointing to "H" "M" or "L". If so, that's great. It it points to "No", you are out of luck. Set it manually as described in this excellent video.

Hello, yes the watch has an inbuilt perpetual calendar so you won't need to do anything with the date once its set until 2100

Hi I have a question! I have this watch but in a different color, I had it stored in the dark for an year and I just took it out and it doesn’t do anything, I pull the crown and nothing happens. Only the little chronograph on the bottom moves to the zone time but , nothing else moves. Do I have to let it charge for a while or it’s broken already? I just wore it twice :(

Hello, it won't be broken, just needs charging, how long this will take depends on the type of light the watch is receiving. I would leave the watch on the windowsill for a day or two, it will definitely be charged enough to set then. With a full charge the minimum power reserve will be six months.

@@baldboyhalo4745 Hello, give it 24 hours on the windowsill so its recieving natural light, if it hasn't woken up by then I would send it in to Citizen. Leave the crown out while its on the windowsill as when the crown is in its using power. After 24 hours put the crown in, I would expect it to be ticking away properly ready to be set.

If its anything like the older eco drives, the capacitor/battery can go bad with neglect. It will accept a bit of charge with daily sunlight but never really work right. Youll have to send it to the service center, no user serviceable parts.

Does anyone know how to set it into the auto/radio mode where it actively looks for a gps signal to set the time? I think that's when it points to the RX at 12 O'clock, done it once but can't remember how. Being in lockdown sadly the battery died and now gone off time :-( After randomly pressing buttons and letting sit on a window sil it went to correct time but died again because I forgot to keep near the window again now it's ticking again but on wrong time. I could do manual set but looks cool when it jumps to the correct time on its own lol.

Hello, to search manually for the signal at anytime make sure the mode hand is on time, crown in. Press the bottom push button once to do a signal check, the second hand will go to no at 11 o'clock or ok at 1 o'clock. depending on where you are you may or may not have signal.... thick walls etc...., if you get an ok.... wait for the second hand to start ticking again and then hold down the bottom push button until the second hand goes to RX, the watch is then manually searching. Check out my last video, I demonstrate it there, thanks.
