I am trying to modify your follow system into my friend system and i am running into issues when I try to update document - Auth User Ref - add field "friends" ....but then I don't get the same Update Type as you. I get Value Source = "From Variable" or Update (Increment, Delete, Etc.). my add button is in a list view with two queries. one is a document from reference Users. I have tried to put another User Document query on the page as a parameter and I get the same options. Any suggestions? Thank you

Thank you for information. I did this for Firebase and this is best way in my experience for Firebase. People can use other data provider and use API. If you know better way for Firebase, would you think to share with us? People can see and learn better way and I also want to learn for my next projects. Thank you 😊🥰

The issue with this method is that at some point your app will break because of the 1 MB limit in conjunction with the other texts and information from a user in the same document. Another option will be to create a subcollection with a list of followers and list of following tied to the users collection, depending on the use case, a single document like this will easily accompany you to 50,000 UID strings which means a user cannot have more than 50,000 followers or follow more than 50,000 people .. Depending on your use case that might be great.. now a much more scalable solution will be to create collections or subcollections (for collections, use the user ref to tie the collection to a user. Now the fields for the followers and following document will look like this : user followed (user ref) , created by (user ref) and vice versa with the followers document, you will be saving to user UIDs per document, now on follow action create a new document but set conditions to make sure the document does not already exist...
