Absolutely brilliant video and so simple, when you know how. Got a new golf this month and although I had the same basic golf for the previous two cars, this car has been a nightmare. The salesman could not have been more helpful, but I would have had to take him home for the first month.

Thank you for this video. Really helpful. I have a hire car of a Golf Mark 8 and have taken it abroad to Belgium and Netherlands. I spent about 30 mins today at a service area trying to change to KM/H. Just wanted to find the Units. I had a 2018 Octavia vRS and that system was easier. From this video I've now successfully amended the units so I don't have to convert mph to kmh now! Lol The user experience on the 1st screen shows 8 icons. I was swiping right due to 3 dots at the bottom. There was nothing intuitive to say you can scroll up and down to see settings. And Now I can see from this vid there is that vertical line on right. I work in UX myself and I've struggled. VW have done a bad job😔

How to stop the Timezone from reverting back to Japan Timezone, every time the car is turned off? We are in Australia.

If it is changing on its own and you have the time zone set correctly i would imagine it is most likely a software update.

Yeah. Bottom left, just below the screen is the power button. Just press this and it will show just the clock. Another useful tip, if you press and hold the power button for approx 20 seconds it will do a soft reset of the unit. So many software issues with these units that you will almost certainly need to do this at some point.

I did the video because i had so many people asking at work. The layout and operation has changed dramatically from previous models so can only think this is the reason. Also, unless you turn off the update from GPS option. You cannot actually change the time, it gets greyed out. This could also be the reason why.

Thank you so much. The VW user manual is absolutely no use whatsoever. Wasted over an hour of my life. Can someone tell VW. Also the Sat Nav is equally difficult to use. Wish I had chosen another vehicle. The ECO tips are not on the screen long enough to read. Some techies at VW are having fun at our expense and safety. Total touch screen is a dangerous system.

Glad I could help. I agree with you, it's not intuitive at all. I think a touch screen for all the controls was a big mistake. The attention you need to give the screen just to adjust your heating or the fan speed is ridiculous, dangerous and frustrating beyond belief.
