Fantastic video just answered a question for me. I was totally baffled why my Crank and Camshaft marks didn't agree and line up. My procedure didn't mention the cam markings for I and E and I was not on the right spot! Nice and easy to understand. Tahnk you for your time :)

I'm replacin the intake cam gear on my 2010 rav4. The timing chain doesn't have the colored links. I had the crank at TDC by the mark on the crank pulley. Both cam gears appeared to be properly positioned. I didn't take off the timing cover that was done in the video. I removed the chain tensioner to help with this. Because there wasn't any tension on the chain, both cams moved. I have the new gear on but trying to make sure that the cams r correctly positioned.

Thanks for this video!! I have a quick question, how much slack or "deflection travel" is there supposed to be on the timing chain with the tensioner installed? I ask because I am looking at a friend's 2003 Camry and with the valve cover off pushing downward on the top portion of the timing chain (between the two cam sprockets) it has about 3/4 inch deflection. Does this mean the tensioner is worn or broken? Thanks

@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage hie. I did the timming and my car stated one kick, but the oil light stayed on,no oil running in the engine,so i remove the oil filter and started the car again, and no oil came past the oil filter,so i guess my oil pump is not pumping oil,ill either buy a new oil pump and run the engine again and if it still dose not pump,i guess my engine bearing are worn or something. 🤷♂️

At that mileage with no faults the answer would be no. I wouldn't be replacing it unless there is a mechanical reason, like timing issue or chain slap.
