This really helped me get it, Our scout pipe band doesn’t tell us how to tune out bagpipes because he does it so it really helped me get used to it and on last minute I was playing he likes at School. Thanks So much xx

Really good clear information on what is complex and rarely explained effectively to learners. We are indebted.

Good clear instructions. Thank you. Can you advise setting up a smallpipe and border chanter? These seem much more difficult to set up and achieve a good accurate pitch and octave.

Apart from the tricky fingerwork the chanter Reed is what gives me the most trouble, I'm still learning a lot of the basics, but I love the sound of the pipes and hope to be able to play eventually, practice, practice, practice.

Hi! Goo video! I recently got a beginner bagpipe and am struggling to get it to work. It's like the air gets released right away somehow and I have no idea what the reason could be. The bag doesn't seem to have any holes and my pipes may or may not be assembled correctly...
@fortheloveofpipes84326 жыл бұрын
TheLixan do you have a teacher? If you are starting on the highland pipes have you worked on the practice chanter first? To check for leaks, remove the chanter and all drones from the bag and cork their stocks. Fill the bag with air and listen for leaks. If you can’t find leaks you need someone to work with you, preferably in person, to find where the air is leaking.

Your drone reeds are probably getting too much air through, they can be adjusted but you only have to move the bridle a hairs thickness at a time, they are very sensitive, also adjust them so they shut off at the same time if you blow too hard, I'm still learning myself, what make of pipes do you have?

what's the hole for, that does not get covered with the fingers on the chanter?

called sound holes, they set your low G and can be taped to set it...

pringle bagpipes make a reed pressure gauge that allows you to consistently find the reed strength

Useful advice for beginners who own a tuning aid. But surely if you feel they are experienced enough to tape their chanter, then better to teach them to use their ears. The drones never lie !

Why is the upper G always sharp
@gbennett697 жыл бұрын
how do you tape up the D note?
@HuskReeds7 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean? Any note that is sharp would get taped in the same manner simply buy putting tape on the next open hole when playing the note that is sharp. So if you were fingering a D the top most hole that is open would be the 4th hole up on the front of the chanter, thus, the D hole. Put some tape on the top of the hole and this will flatten the D.
