Great video! Thank you. I am re-entering the world of piping after a 34 year hiatus. Your channel has been a great help in preparing me to set up my new pipes!

Great demo. I have been playing the pipes for many years and never knew how to adjust for "shut off" levels. Thanks for providing this wonderful video. Ken from Cumberland, MD

This was a great video on how to explain this process! I was deep into this as well. This video definitely helped out! Appreciate your video's and your Online Store!

Thanks. I also would like to know how to cure the "pop the top with the finger to stop the squeal" to get it to settle down.

Good vid. How do you get rid of single drone reed "flutter"?
@pipershut9 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, Sometimes this happens when you are not getting enough air pressure to the reed ...is it the Bass or tenor drone...also...do you use drone valves in your pipes?

When you do this can you also go down to low g and do a g gracenote on g and increase pressure to see when your outer toner shuts off. Then do it on A for the rest?

My drone reeds squeak when I blow them up. We adjusted them and they sounded good but they would shut off when i played the chanter. We changed it back and now they squeak. I have ezdronereeds

Hi, i was just wondering, now that you’ve moved the bridle, how then do you adjust the intonation or pitch of the drones, while trying to maintain the tenor tops as far out as possible on the tuning pin exposing a little bit of the hemp?
@pipershut6 жыл бұрын
Hi M.N. You can adjust where the drones tune on the pins by adjusting the nose cone. Which brand of drone reed are you using?...the adjustments can very greatly depending on the brand of drone reed!

The Pipers Hut i’ve got a few types of reeds for a few sets, including Kinnairds, Croziers, MG, Cannings. but based on my limited knowledge, the cones or adjustable screws are for the buzziness/smoothness of the drone sound instead of the pitch. is that true?

Adjusting the nose cone will only help to adjust where they tune on the pin, but not buzzy-ness....

@@ri0mhach pitch or tone is mathematically hz and length to get say 440 a.. so your drone reed and slider for example ... its longer lower shorter sharper .. hence tenor vs base If your high then lengthen the turn screw ... the length of the reed befor going through the stick is like moving your chanter reed and the difference in low a and high a ... one changes little while the other can be noticed ...and low means shorter screw Think a noise running back and fort in a tunnel and every time it gets to the end we hear it... long is slower hz so low and short pipe (tennor) is high pitch cause we hear it twice as often .. 220 and110 example Sorry bout so much crap but it's alot of math then human ear to fine tweak....
