Thanks brother! I now have a use for my fireplace bellow. A good tip for your grilling area is a fireplace poker set. You can pick them up for cheap at yard sales. They have a broom, extended metal dust pan, long fireplace tongs, and a cool holder for all of it. Mine has cool duck heads on the handles. The extended tongs have slots in the end. It's like using your own fingers when cleaning the crusties in the grill grates. I am going to do a short snake test run to see what I need to get temps to 250°.

Great idea. I played with the masterbuilt carcoal smoker to balance out the snake size for the temperature I wanted. The weber has great air intake control but to masterbuilt has on intake control so the snake is a must... With the weber I like using the snake because I get a cleaner burn taste in my finished food.

Thank you bro! I’ve struggled with temp control for years. This helped.

I hope this helped. Keep in mind a larger snake will generate more heat, if you need more.

Very useful video, just missing that you said what the temperature was with three layers of briquettes?

I did a second video that was too boring, so I trashed it. The maximum temperature I could get with that small amount of charcoal was 200 degrees f. I would say add more for the best results. This amount was good for a demonstration video and might work well for jerky or slow-smoke fish.

Have you notice a difference in cook time between 2x1 vs 2x2?

I general, with any smoker You can get different cook times based on the temperature. I like to match the temperature to the meat to get the most tender results... I have a few smokers to choose from so when I am not filming I use the exact smoker for the process. Thank you for watching
