I’m not sure if anyone will see my comment, but I plan on getting ONE Robo Hamster this weekend and I am going to make a bin cage (with at least 450 sq in bc that’s the requirement). My question is this: Is it okay to use a whole bag of bedding (the same size as shown in the video) for my one Robo Hamster? Will that much bedding hurt the hamster and suffocate it? Will it be very happy that there’s extra bedding to burrow in?
@beautysfx46445 жыл бұрын
I would say you should have a part of the bin cage with more bedding for your hamster to burrow and then have the rest of it an even size so say half of it with alot of bedding, I think try it with not the whole bag at first and if it looks like your hamster needs more bedding then put more bedding in

I advice making your hamsters sand bath bigger because they really need a sand bath so they can play, dig, flip and clean themselves up using it. If you give your hamster a small sand bath you're taking away the ability of them to do the things that they need to do in a sand bath. Instead I suggest removing a bit of the bedding in the side and use it as a sand bath, using the bendy bridge to seperate the bedding and the sand bath from each other and then putting a hideout in the sand bath. I also suggest not using the flying thing wheel because hamsters have alot of energy and run very fast so if they stop running they can fly off the wheel and injur themselves. Also, I'm not hating and I'm just giving advices 😊♡

Just some thoughts and advise, not trying to offend at all btw. So basically the second wheel (flying, [something something idk how to spell it])you put can be dangerous because your hamster could run really fast and fall an hurt themselves. Also I would say that the amount of bedding is not really good, if you expect your hamster to burrow, you should have enough bedding, usually minimum would be 6 inches AT LEAST, but I think you did add enough anyways so ur good. That's all , good vid 😁

“You don’t need a food bowl” Me: do you not feed your hamsters ?
@EmmaLynneSampson5 жыл бұрын
Some people prefer to scatter feed
@Idk-iu4lw4 жыл бұрын
Emma Lynne Sampson like what is scatter feed like do they scatter food all around the cage ?
@thedon12624 жыл бұрын
@@Idk-iu4lw yes, you sprinkle all the seeds around the place or hide it somewere so your hamster have to find it and searge for it, hamsters have good noses and they can find pretty easely becouse of that. im stil figuring out how to do this without making the cage an complete mess, but on the otherhand, if he doenst use it as food you just are using it as bottemsubstrate. you can also put whole pieces of the plant in the bin and set it up like they are growing out of the ground. im growing my own seeds right now so i can put it in the hamstercage later. that way they have to find the plant and get it out of there which is closer to their nature than just putting it in a bowl. you can always conclude that an hamster whos living closer to his nature is happier in life. but you always have to take responsebility to reduce stress and dangers ofc, becouse they will always been exposed to it in that "little" area. so you have to be always sure first what you give your hamster! ;)

Idk hamsters are foraging animals. In order to reduce the risk of stereotypical behaviours, some owners believe that scatter feeding allows the hamster to display natural foraging behaviours 😌

@EmmaLynneSampson5 жыл бұрын
Yes the minimum used to be 360, but that was found to still stress hamsters out and the minimum was then moved to 450, but it’s now being argued that the minimum size should be 600 square inches as 450 has found to be too small as well. Anyone know the minimum tank size for a Syrian? I want to get an ikea detolf but I feel it would be easier temporarily to be able to go into a pet store and buy a tank. Not to mention the house we just moved to has fairly small rooms and there’s no space to put a detolf rn. I’m wanting to get my sister a hamster, I had hamsters in the past and know all the routes etc but I’m curious when it comes to a tank. I had a 40 gal for my winter white but I feel that’s way too small for a Syrian; she seemed to have a ton of room even though the recommended size is probably bigger than 40 gal, she had chews hideouts a wheel etc in there and there was still a lot of extra room, she never seemed to climb the walls or get bored. Now of course this is probably too small for a Syrian though ; plus they need bigger hideouts, what would you guys recommend?
@maddies8566 жыл бұрын
I beleive a 40 gal is ok. I would check some forums online
@tiffyspetlife25006 жыл бұрын
40 gallons are fine, especially for Syrians. If you feel that’s too small, you can get a 75 gallon or just connect two 40s with tubes
@atropiical36876 жыл бұрын
40 gallons is absolutely way too small for a Syrian. HamsterHideout no longer endorses a minimum of 450 square inches because it is clear that it is not big enough to fit in basic necessities PLUS accessories for enrichment and thriving. In fact HamsterHideout no longer has a minimum at all. The HamsterHideout *community* though recommends a 75 gallon tank for a Syrian and a 40 gallon *breeder* for a dwarf.
@shayrose77056 жыл бұрын
Hamster Helper 75? Got it! And that’s what I thought. It does have enough room for all necessities ; I used to have Syrians and dwarfs I used the 40 for a dwarf and I put the Syrians stuff in it one time to see and I didn’t agree with the size for my hamster although even with a ten inch wheel and three hideouts bowl water sand bath etc bridge it still had space ; but i felt not enough ; glad I checked!!!! They sell 75 gals at petsmart etc right ? ( I don’t shop there ; just for objects ; not animals. )

Shay Rose Yes I believe they do sell those tanks at PetSmart, but I’d also suggest searching up for 75 gallon tanks on Craigslist. Sometimes you can find second hand tanks for much cheaper. Just give it a clean with a tiny bit of bleach diluted in water and it should be good. But that’s totally up to you if you want a new one or second hand.
