I've been getting a couple of the same questions now so I'll answer them here: *can dwarfs live together?* I've created a whole video discussing it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqLHlayZdt9lac0 *Is a 10 gallon aquarium okay?* No, 10 gallons is only 200 SQ inches of floorspace which is much too small. 40 gallons is the absolute minimum when it comes to using tanks for hamsters. Here are some recommended cages kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXiTcqenosqZaM0 *Is wood shavings okay?* The only safe wood shavings for hamsters is ASPEN or HEMP. Pine, Cedar or softwood shavings (another name for cedar/pine) all are dangerous to hamsters and can cause upper respiratory infections if used. If you wood shavings bag is unlabeled it is best to stop using it.

On the final night he pushed through just to see me again before he passed on. He sat there, still, we gave him a towel to keep warmer over his waist, and I pet him, when I woke up the next morning he died, Rest In Peace, Snowball, I loved you , I wish I knew the right care tips for you longer than I did.

@lucas is this a sarcastic question or a serious one? If it’s a serious one then, depends what furniture you have around you! You have to make sure there are no ways for the hamster to escape and also, make sure that if you have other pets, don’t let them anywhere near your hamster. Try to make sure that it’s safe and blocking off any dangerous places for the hamster, don’t risk it. Anyways, have a great day!

It can be shocking how much the standards have changed since then, I think it's one of the reasons a lot of the times hamsters end up in poor care now since a lot of parents owned a hamster when they were young and haven't bothered to do any new research and believe because that's how they did it when they had a hamster that it's still the right care. I'm sad to say, as a very, very new hamster owner, I failed my hamster. I never actually intended to get a hamster; I wanted two rats, exclusively, and I researched as much as I could about them. Food, tanks, tricks, treats, etc. I knew the dangers for rats, but only rats. Upon entering a local store that bred Fancy Rats (professionally! There was no abuse that I could see, and their set up looked clean and big for the rats they bred.) but was told that most of the rats were currently going through a respiratory sickness, and wouldn't be for sale until they were better. I was going to walk out after, before a woman offered hamsters. She said it would be a good starter pet, to work up to rats, and that she could even help pick things out with me, since she had her own hamsters! She picked out a crittertrails cage, and though it was a bigger cage than the ones I've seen, it was still too small. It came with an attached water bottle and wheel for $25 (way too cheap, but I still wanted to be hopeful.), and after picking out some food and PROPER bedding (the only good thing she recommended), I was all set, and took the one-month old presumably boy home. In his cage, he was very slow, and tired for a couple days. I never saw him drink water, and he picked at the seeds. He didn't use the wheel either. He just slept, or monkeybarred, and every couple hours, would chew the metal bars. I'm pretty slow, but it was clear Something Was Wrong. After watching a couple videos of yours on Syrian hamsters, I was really distraught. I made a huge mistake within the first few days. Not even gonna lie, I was so frustrated that I cried. I knew that the crittertrails was only temporary, and I'd have to get a bigger one eventually, but I didn't think it would already present an issue for him. When I calmed down, I spoke to my uncle about needing a bigger setup, whether it was a storage bin or if I had to order a cage online. He immediately understood the issue, and offered a spare aquarium. I was hesitant, since it sounded, still, too small. I think I'll hold Honey in there for now. I still have to buy him many toys, and a bigger house as a minimum, but he seems to enjoy the 25 gallon tank. I gave him a water bowl (as the water bottle, I realise, was faulty and couldn't be used anywhere outside their stupid cage) which he finally used, and watched him Really eat for the first time. He also used his wheel, and just seemed all around less scared and happier. Unfortunately, his wheel also broke, so I'm getting a new one today, but he was never that active before. I haven't noticed any signs of stress, though it is only day two in his new setup, but he still seems much happier. I was going to start interacting again tomorrow, to give him more time to destress. I really wish more people knew more accurate information, and they stopped offering those damn crittertrail cages.

@sahanak50415 жыл бұрын
EmzKay Panda aww I think Munchie just has a different approach. It is harsh but I do think it’s what some people need to hear. You are obviously one of the people who care about your animals wellbeing and providing a life to help them thrive, but many people don’t think that way. They think that just because the hamster is alive, it is okay. Her harshness shows certain types of people that what they are doing is unacceptable. Jsut my opinion. I support anyone who spreads proper animal care and advocates for animal wellbeing so I feel sad when someone is hurt by one of those people.
@unoriginal_name45765 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Munchie as even admitted to making mistakes in the past? As well as even when she goes to rescue hamsters from bad homes she politely informs them about proper care instead of getting mad, but if she sees an animal in shitty care she can't just brush it under the rug and will openly show exactly how bad the care was and how upsetting/damaging it can be. I haven't watched her in a while tho so idk maybe she changed.
