Not only do they provide a means to export waste and nutrients, they also create a safe haven for small, beneficial organisms to grow and reproduce.
These small creatures - including copepods, amphipods and other "bugs" - growing in your refugium will help devour leftover food and detritus. Some of these "bugs" inevitably make their way into your display tank, where they will help feed the animals and increase the biodiversity in your reef aquarium.
In this video, we are going to set up a refugium inside a Trigger Systems Emerald sump, provide helpful tips to make setup hassle-free and show you how to get the most out of your refugium!
