I’m usually a silent viewer of channels I don’t normally comment lol but I wanted to say thank you for making such detailed videos! I have an 8 year old and twins that are 7 we LOVE being outdoors we have had a pool this size since they were babies my husband and I set it up together from scratch leveling the ground ourselves and yes it is a JOB! Last summer my husband passed away and due to our world being turned upside down unfortunately I didn’t winterize the pool or take care of the outdoor things the way I should have so now I have to replace the pool by myself! It is very intimidating! I just got the old one down my new one was delivered this week so tomorrow is the day I tackle putting up an 18x48 intex pool by myself omg wish me luck! Lol anyway your videos have helped motivate me a lot I know I can do it at least that’s what I’m telling myself lol 😂 thank you again for you honest and detailed videos!

Awe honey. I am so sorry to hear your husband passed away. I have faith you can do this. I can tell you are a strong woman already. I am so glad this motivated you to do it. Your children will see their mom doing hard things. WE can do hard things and so can they! (At least that is my goal) I hope it turns out well, can you get another adult to help you out? It does help to have extra hands in this process. Sending you lots of good energy from Louisiana and happy swimming for your babies.

Three yrs later, i am enjoying your instruction. Thank you! My story.. i decided i wanted a pool. My husband works plus he is running for US Congress and he is too busy to help. Im on a budget so im TRYING to do this w my own blood, sweat and tears at 60 yrs young. I live in Central Texas and its been 103 degrees out this week. Ive been digging for 2 weeks now. We have hard clay like dirt. Ive made my circle and ive dug up the grass. I have all this chunky clay/dirt that needs a home so im sorta stuck. But im still working on getting roots out. Ive only given up 3 times and after some rest im back at it. Will i survive the heat? Will i complete my project? Im not sure. I now have an 18 foot circle of dirt and two big dogs that live inside but do go out and its suppose to rain tomorrow. Another challenge, muddy dogs! I just wanted to say thank you for encouraging me to keep going. Also for your detailed instructions.

@@HappyFarmsLa I have a question that maybe you can help with before I throw in the towel and drain my pool. I have a 22x52 Coleman. I hooked up the new pump on Saturday, chemicals are good, and I’ve been running the pump, backwashing, rinsing and filtering since then. My pool is still green! People kept saying that it will clear up but it’s not. I don’t know what else to do besides drain it and start over.

@@Goofy_lil_Goober hey, when you say chemicals are right, have you shocked it (got the chlorine way up to 10ppm?) that is the only way I know to get it clean. Do you have a sand filter? Hey you should backwash and rinse the system every time you change the sand or open the multi port valve. And of course when pressure rises. Otherwise if you don’t backwash it after sand change, system will shoot all dirt to the pool.

For viewers. If programable & struggling to keep pool warm - Run your filter more during the sunny hours vs cooler hours and never at night/colder hours. Running your pool in cooler hours - your cooling your preciously sun warmed water - same as blowing on your hot soup. Not every timer is that granular but you can for some put another basic timer (ensure its rated for your pump wattage) on the plug to hard shut off during late/night hours & the intermittent timer runs during day - ensure its running enough since your turning off for night.

Dani, I understand of the allure of salted pools, but if your pool is constructed with metal parts, the salt will surely corrode it. What the chlorine generater does is convert salt to chlorine, which is exactly what you would de broadcasting into your pool in the first place if you did not elect to use salt. There is no difference between using the two, except that salted water is said to be more of a silky feeling when swimming. As for your sand filter, not sure if you're aware but you do not have to replace the sand on an annual basis. The longer the sand is in the filter, the better it would work. I believe the sand should be replaced every five to seven years. You would know to replace it if the sand gets morphed into little balls. P.S> I would never make fun of any mistakes you make becaus I have been doing the same type of mistakes every pool season. :)
@HappyFarmsLa
@HappyFarmsLa 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I am making chlorine but I am not buying it. This type of metal is special coatedd, to last longer, still I know the risks yes. And I replaced the sand because I didn't know what to do with it when the season was over, I won't replace again next year. :) thanks

You're using the wrong sand though. Regular filter sand only filters 28-30 microns and that's almost large enough to see. Cartridge does 8-10 and de does 3-5. If you switch to zeolite, you'll filter to 1-3 microns and you only use half the weight required

Love this video love this lady she is all smiles and happiness. I love how she always says her pool is off leveled. I'm like thinking I'm sure as popular as this lady is she could have one of her fans actually help level it correctly. Cuz you know the hardest thing but I had someone help me level it ours was only off level three quarters of an inch which is pretty good considering you can have up to I think two and a half inch off level and will be good but anyways great video. I only have a pool like this but I have a small 15 by 33 foot first. So I don't want to buy the extra stuff since I'm only going to use this for about a year and sell it and get a real pool I'll have a real professional put it in and then I'll buy a real set up. My question is I'm looking to get a a skimmer for a 15ft pool obviously the one that comes with it as bad probably lower than it needs. So I probably have one for like a 10 foot pool but the skimmer is terrible which skimmer do you recommend. Since I'm only going to have this for one summer no point in me spending to $300 in a expensive pump sand filter but if you have a cheap recommendation on a skimmer that will work let me know

How did you ground the pump? Is your extension cord (which is not supposed to be used but everyone I know or have watched videos from has used) attached to a GFCI outlet? Did you bond everything with wire or no? I got my pool filled before I opened the filter pump and read all the warnings and now I'm nervous to use it the way we had intended. I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to just take the pool back down because I don't know how to move forward. I've wasted weeks and weeks on research, setting up, taking down (there was a leak before it was even a quarter full and Intex sent us a new liner), setting it back up, and now we have a FULL pool with all the hoses attached but I'm afraid to use this sand filter pump on an extension cord without grounding it (I did get a GFCI attachment for the extension cord, but I still need to hear that other people haven't had an issue before i finish this setup.) It was already late in the season to set one up, now we're weeks away from having to take it back down but I would love to let my kids swim at least a few times rather than totally waste all this water and effort. 😩 Thank you for your video and your time!

Just plug that thing in! To answer your questions no, I don’t have any of the correct things and I’ve run for years this way. Now my Intex pump did go out. I think the motor went out. I don’t think it was anything electrical but I left it out winters and all that anyway I’m still running with an extension cord and it’s not grounded. I just turn it off if we get any kind of storm to avoid any issues, so I say plug-in and enjoy your pool and you’re right it is not recommended that is too bad to hear about having to get a new liner. I totally understand your frustration with the whole pool thing but I promise you it will get easier eventually and thank you for watching.!

@HappyFarmsLa

a big sand filter is best for that size pool (same as mine) there is a link to my pump in the description. Intex has a few different sizes but the bigger the better I think! the little cartridge filter will only get you algae its too weak and I am ashamed they sell that one with the pool our size. If you want salt water you will need the salt water converter (also linked) but salt has its negatives...it will rust the poles over time...from splashing etc...but to me it is worth it because the filter turns salt to chlorine if you buy the atatchment. Best of luck and I am here for questions but I am no expert!

@@jorgegonzalez-ju9km it should’ve come with a little black cap that you can put over one of the suctions if you unscrew the cover. The thing is I’ve heard it’s not recommended to plug one up for an extended amount of time because if for some reason the one with the skimmer on it gets clogged then you’re not getting any water suction and your pump could suffer.
