This hydroponics growing system was designed for indoor use, not outdoor-but I decided to give it a go on my sunny terrace (don't worry, I isolated all the electric components!)

Thanks Eric. I chose not to sink the blocks too deep as I was worried about them getting too wet in the beginning. I'm not to worried about a little algae.

is there a way to use this system as an ntf system? I'm wanting to grow dwarf friut trees indoors.

What the cost of system like that?

very nice!! Did you ever have to use a cooler for the reservoir? I always hear that people tend to the res temp so frequently, so i assumed it would be very difficult outdoors.. you did great job regardless!

You might be able to counter that cold weather (somewhat) with an aquarium heater in your res. Also increase the number of floodings per day to keep them warm. Oh, and you may need to put some insulation on your res if it's in the same area as your plants, when it gets hotter. Otherwise the sun may overheat the res.

+Tark McCoy great advice.

Looks like it's all made of nice quality stuff. Does it come in a slightly smaller system?

Hi Andrew, it's modular so there's nothing to stop you setting up a 2 or a 4 pot system, say.

where are you located? And do you have problems with keeping the reservoir cool?
@Just4Growers7 жыл бұрын
This was filmed in southern France. The reservoir got very warm during the day (it received some full sun) but the plants did not exhibit any root problems, perhaps due to the large volume of water and non-restrictive growing media allowing plenty of oxygenation of the root zone.

The thing to watch for is direct sun hitting the front of the dark coloured buckets. Putting a little shade cloth in front will stop them heating up to 120F ;).

but they're really growing though

Sure! I just think the harvest would've been prolonged if they'd received more sunshine in September / October / November - you really need a nice open spot to benefit from the sunshine during those months in my part of the world! :)

Those plants need Cal-Mag homie.
@Just4Growers8 жыл бұрын
+SuperKissle Thanks SuperKissle. Interesting that this grow was with hard water municipal water (320 PPMs TDS) and a hard water formulation micro component. There was no sign of calcium or magnesium deficiency in the fruits-but they certainly would've been happier with RO water, Cal/Mag and regular base nutrients, that's for sure! :)
