If the lock wont connect to your connect on your wifi network, set up a mobile hotspot. Connect the nest connect to the hotspot and try to pair them again. You have to push button on the inside of the lock to pair it to the connect before you scan the qr to pair them. Lots of missing instructions or advice that just doesnt work out there.

You can voice control the lock from the Google Assistant - but only to lock the door - not to unlock (for obvious security reasons). You have full control over the lock from the Nest app - must be on a mobile device (not from a nest web login). Android mobile device power screen one can add a widget to control lock(s) including unlocking. I use this final method for one-handed unlocking of door.

According to google manual, you need one to coonect to app support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9251009?hl=en You will need to have either a Google Nest Guard or Google Nest Connect already installed and connected to the Nest app for The Nest × Yale Lock to work with the app. This is because the Nest × Yale Lock doesn’t connect directly to Wi-Fi. Instead, it uses Weave to connect to a Nest Connect or Nest Guard in your home. Your Connect or Guard, which are connected to your Wi-Fi network, lets your lock communicate with the Nest service and the Nest app on your phone.

I would suggest addeding this video from Yale in the description. Yale Real Living Deadbolt - Retracting Latch from 2 3/4 to 2 3/8 inches (22) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHzVZWeehtaMbas . I feel stupid now. I followed the Nest instructions to adjust the deadbolt length and inserted it, not really understanding what it meant by retracted. Once I was aware of my mistake, I didn't know what it meant or how to retract it as it went against what the paper instructions stated. Needless to say there was confusion and it added time to the install. The video from Yale, shows what the instructions mean by retracted and to do it before you adjust the length. So I thought I'd share incase anyone else gets in to the same spot of bother. Got there in the end :D

@larrywilson82904 жыл бұрын
The longer I own this lock the more I dislike it. I got it for Christmas and since January I have had to go through the installation process FOUR times because the Nest Connect and Nest Yale lock keep dropping off my WiFi network. When that happens you have to start all over again with installing the Nest Connect first, then the Yale Lock. In order to do this you MUST remove the yale lock from the door because the button needed to connect Nest Connect and the Yale Lock is on the BACK of the lock. Which engineer decided this would be the best place for the rest button. I am going to post here the REAL way to do this. First, you CANNOT install the lock to the door with the batteries in place. So, why tell us not to install with the batteries in place. You can't. The batteries cover the mounting screw holes. Your Nest Yale lock should have come with at least the Nest Connect device. If it didn't then you'll need to get one. That's the first issue with this installation. The Nest Connect is difficult, I do mean difficult, to get installed to the Nest app. You'll spend 30 minutes on this step. Once you have the Nest Connect installed, now you can start installing the Nest Yale lock. Be sure you have set aside about an hour for this step, minimum. Getting it attached to your door is the easy part. Getting it connected to the Nest Connect is not easy. Don't forget !! You'll need to access that button on the back of the yale lock, so if you've already installed it on the door, take it off. Is the blue light on the Nest Connect still on and glowing steady? Chance are it's green now. So, start over installing the Nest Connect to your Nest App. Are you getting the picture here? If you want to buy this product be prepared for a lot of frustration about every 30 days. The single most difficult part to all this is remembering how to re-install everything each time this happens. So, keep a good copy of the instructions taped to the door so they'll be nice and handy in 30 days.

I have a lot of NEST products, as lately bought their outdoor NEST IQ. But pay U$ 249 for a door lock, that as someone pointed out here, doesn't have a physical backup key, no thanks. I love the NEST quality and attention to details, but they are most of the time away too expensive. Guess they have a version 2 with backup key, the same way they have now the IQ, since the first camera was kind of "joke" , as you need to open a hole of the size an "elephant" to have the power cable inside.

@danybirongravel6 жыл бұрын
Lindsay Siegel yes, you need to do the whole the size indicates on the paper template. NOT the size in the video.
@NorCalArcher6 жыл бұрын
The video and online article refer to the offset, or distance the hole center needs to be from the edge of the door. This can be either 2 3/8" or 2 3/4". The hole diameter must be 2 1/4", which is standard for most doors.

How much time should I plan to install the Yale Lock and set up the Nest Connect? I have a new Google Mesh wifi system with Google Home on my phone. I’m pretty handy around the house, but I don’t have experience working on door locks. Thanks!
@ethelryan257 Жыл бұрын
The first one I did took me about 35 minutes from start to finish. The biggest delay is downloading the nest app, registering the QR code, etc. The quickest part was the installation. I had to bore out the door for this, I made sure there was absolutely no sawdust in the holes and that the deadbolt was installed with the 'up' facing up and the lock completely plumb (level). You can save a fair amount of time by downloading the nest app in advance and making sure you have another nest product logged in, first. However - I'm an electrician, so none of this was new to me. I'm not including the time it took to bore out the holes, mortise in the strike plate, etc.
@GrahamRiverProductio2 жыл бұрын
This didn't work for me at all. I tried installing it at my home and worked great. It took about an hour to figure out the Nest Connect because it came with NO instructions at all. - Note to self . . . put some instructions in the box!! Once I got it working at my house I thought I'd install it in a second location . . . that's when the wheels came off the bus! After 5 calls and almost 4 hours of dealing with tech support they offered to send me a new unit. Between Yale and Nest neither one of them had a clue as to how and reset it so I could put it on a new new network successfully. We did all of the steps at least 8 times and they said it must be an issue somewhere. The unit is going back!

Will it automatically unlock when I am close to it and am signed into the Nest app on my device? What temp ranges can it withstand? Will all the features work if the wifi is not very strong near the door where it's installed? Do I get support from Yale, Nest or both? If I change my door hardware to a different finish, can I swap the faceplate with a different finish on my lock or do I need to purchase a different one? If I installed multiple locks across the entrances to my home, can I sync them or do I need to program them individually? Feel free to add the answers to your product marketing pages as I couldn't find these answers on the Nest or Yale sites.
@JLHomes6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it seems like you'll need to open the app or use the code to unlock. I wish it had proximity sensors. Not sure if the security system tags can be integrated with the lock. They recommend you plug in the "nest connect" closest to the door and that it has a 40ft range. It doesn't look the finishes are interchangeable. If you have multiple locks, they can all be synced to your app but will appear individually based on the location in your house.
