For some time now, Announce Notifications for Siri has made it possible to have caller ID spoken out loud, and have text messages read to you while you're wearing AirPods. But with iOS 15, iPhone users can now turn on "Announce Notifications" and allow Siri to read you every notification. Thank's for the tip! But heads up.. I spent over an hour trying to get it to work (iOS 17 iPhone11) with no luck. I finally made it work by shutting off Siri, (both on my phone and computer) and then restarted my phone, re-activated Siri again with everything "on". I then had to "retrain" Siri for my voice. After that it finally worked (I will be using this for my elderly mom who is getting dementia.) By the way, it does not work on my MacBook Pro but that was not to be expected.

I know you can use this feature on Airpods, which are wireless. I've never tried them with wired headphones.

Hi Ellen, what annoys me (and it’s not your fault) is that - although I am up to date with iOS 15.4.1 my iPhone menu is different from yours. When I try to switch on: Announce Notifications. in Siri & Search, it is missing. On the list and Immediately after Announce Calls I have My Information followed immediately by Siri & Dictation History? I can only put it down to my phone being an iPhone 7. Like you I give talks at a computer club on iPads and iPhones (albeit that I am 85, but love Apple devices and like to help others). I scan KZbin al lot to see how others present new updates and features as a means to improve my own presentation. I can appreciate those that say they prefer verbally slower presentations. I always have the inevitable problem where people have old devices and can’t get the most recent updates, which makes presenting things difficult but to be expected. I myself tried a simple Reminder to get my phone to remember to notify me to make sure I have closed my car windows when I arrive home, or open the car door (I do it so often) but unfortunately, and annoyingly, it doesn’t work. I guess I will have to update my iPhone. (i am in the UK) Keep up the good work. Lionel

I’m pretty sure it’s because you have an iPhone 7. Apple only allows updates to devices for a certain period of time. The 7 is pretty old! Thanks for your thoughtful comment! Once you upgrade I’m sure you’ll be able to do a lot more.

Not sure why you aren’t seeing this option it should be there. Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Calls, then choose an option.
