Just a minor point, in the video you said you have to give up an aux channel to use RSSI/LQ. That's not actually the case with crossfire, as RSSI is calculated by the receiver and is not an aux channel as such beeing transmitted across the air it can be set to output on channel 12 (aux 8) even with crossfire running in its lowest latency 8 channel mode. That's what I do because I want all 4 of my aux channels! Just thought I'd share that incase anyone else is in the same boat. Great video as always JB.

@@houseofquad2260 Hi, figuring out the same, found the solution: set it to 12 channels, set your LQ channel to 9, 10, 11, 12 (I set it to 12, AUX8 in BF), then switch back to 8 channel. It will keep outputting LQ on channel 12 even if set for 8 channel

Check konasty he has a older video setting up the tbs unify V2 and it helped me you have to use the tbs bind to Ur kwad go Into your receiver I think it's in general ft hen the V2 receiver channel map channel 1 is either SBUS or PWM or crsf and some other things but Konasty has a great video it's like a year old but it's legit

Make sure you aren't using three switches. I was ... arm, mode, flip/buzzer. Moved to 8 for LQ and all was good.

That was kind of confusing going from selecting Ch7 and then clicking Aux3... might have been good to hit all the steps in a setup. Not sure I speak for everyone; but if they’re like me, you don’t use Aux setup very much after initial setup - so you don’t remember how to do those easy steps

I think that this confuses the majority of us - and I think it's because the first 4 inputs are LOCKED into CHANNELS 1 to 4 (TAER) and so AUX 1 is the first AUX channel, but overall its the 5th input being used (again, 1 to 4 used by TAER) and this ALWAYS screws me up also......😢

nice video i feel like you over read my privet messages with mike chin 2 days ago lmao ! we found a bug in the new fw btw if you do everything like u did well i use aux 8 but any ways if you do everything and it still dont work or shows week rssi/lq you need to reflash the fw to the crsf and that will fix it to test i put my crsf on 10mw and take a walk out side with the kwad and my goggles on and see if it goes down being 100 feet away and out side with controller in side u should see a big drop like to 75% or 80 %

Hi Josh, Great information for crossfire and is this the same way to get it calibrate the RSSI in betaflight. My osd of the RSSI in my googles is off and no one around here can help. I have 32% and it doesn't get better than that. I am going to see if this will help me. Thanks again for the information on RSSI.

To be honest, it should be exactly the same. Because as you can see, the radio is not doing anything except configuring the module. It's the crossfire module that is doing all the work.

I have it set up like you shown, but when i turn off the TX the value drops down to 1120 and the value 11 shows in the OSD. Why doesn't it go down to 1000? When the TX i on it goes up to 2000 so that´s ok!

I haven't gotten an answer fro the RCGroups forum yet but as I look in Betaflight between the modes tab and the receiver tab I'm PRETTY sure that if I have Aux 1, 2 and 3 used up for various switches turtle mode switch arm flight mode what have you , then I need to set my selected channel in the LUA script for which one to output rssi/lq on to be something I haven assigned to a switch in my case transmitter channel 8 and back in betaflight that becomes Aux 4 RIGHT ?!?!?! I thought of this because if you toggle your Aux switches in the receivers tab you will see their bars change with the position of the switch so Logically if your trying to put RSSI on a "AUX Switch" that you just put turtle mode on your not goona get rssi

Make sure you are using the correct SD card contents version. If you get an error message about incorrect SD card version when powering up, you don't have the right version. Download the opentx firmware with the "luac" option enabled. That can fix it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3TGq2idraaLaK8

Hey JB I am new to XF. I am trying to set up RSSI as in your video, but when I push XF Nano RX, it comes up but then I get a box that indicates " Script syntax error - not enough memory" , and then it exits back to crossfire.lua. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. X9D+ The RX is bound to my Micro TX V2 and reads in BF. Can arm motors and all, just can't get into the Nano RX in luascript. Thanks!! Steve

I can't get the channel mapping to show up in lua on my qx7. It scrolls to failsafe and when i get past it the screen reverts to the lua luac selection page again 🙄 whats causing this? I also get telemetry lost warnings but i modded the qx7 already soldering the piece in the back. Im stumped, been trying everything baud rate changed to 11500, an running opentx 2.2.4 an crossfire version 3.72 i think it is. Rx an tx are bound also. In Betaflight all sticks work fine. Philosophy. Fpv is easier when you understand it's all about momentum. Forward momentum will allow you fly better earlier think of it like a car go forward turn etc. So once you have the sticks imposition once in air drone just goes the same direction. Unless you change inputs to turn both sticks left or right might help visualize

Odd thing going on here. I have the TBS Nano rx and Micro TX - Jumper T16. Originally i've had it set to just use the RSSI. (as the DJI FPV only shows RSSI in OSD) I wanted to switch to LQ as the RSSI here on my test bench shows 85-88 %. Moving 1 meter away, it shows 75-80 %. Followed your instructions, changed it to channel 7 and set it to AUX 3 in BF. It's still showing the same %. Changed the AUX back to none and it's still showing the same %. What am i missing here? :) + That signal strength can't be right, can it? Greetings from Belgium!

Also having the same issue here, TBS Nano rx, Micro tx - TX16S. Using DJI HD, so only display RSSI value, using the old method to assign my channel 8 and set it to AUX 4, when I'm really close (like right next to it), I get around 80-85%, then 1 meter away, I get around 70%, when I'm out of the room, I get around 50-55%. Not sure what's the problem there. (Using Betaflight 4.2.2, all latest firmware on TBS rx and tx.

I’m having binding issues. My module and nano rx are binded, when I turn on my radio the receiver goes from solid red to green. But my module is still pulsating yellow. I try the binding process but no luck. Firmware is up to date. This all happened after a crash cause my radio lost connection with the drone mid flight, not sure why. Any ideas on the new binding issue?

I am not sure what could cause the receiver LED to turn green but not the module LED. I would have to suggest you check with TBS support on this one.

You should be able to flash it in bootloader mode. That's the whole point of bootloader.

Hello, I am having an issue with the SD card. My Taranis x9d+ recognizes that there is a SD card inserted in the slot but none of the files will show up (crossfire is the one I want and I have it on the card). I’ve tried different cards but no luck. Hobby store suspects a faulty card slot, but I think it’s strange it knows the card is there. Help!

The card should be under 32 gig. If it is too large it will not read.

Why do you have to sacrifice an aux Channel? Why are there so many aux channels in betaflight if you can only use four of them?

First, you don't have to give up an aux channel any more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaakooWeZ8uip5o&ab_channel=JoshuaBardwell Second, there are lots of aux channels shown in the configurator because there are some protocols that give you that many aux channels. But Crossfire only has 8 channels (or has the option for 12 if you accept reduced performance). Crossfire pilots typically want the lowest latency possible so they use only 8 channels for that reason. It's more aux channels than most people need.
