How to set up Sonos Era 300

@@rippergaming7825 of course, but that’s not quite the point. There’s a lot of demand to use 300s in place of a Soundbar, because they’re so much better as fronts for music than Arc or Beam. Ideally, I’d love to have 2 300s in front and 2 in rear …and maybe a mini sound bar for center/vocals. Excellent music and movie sound from same setup.

What makes Sonos so amazing is it’s modularity, allowing us to mix and match, upgrade and repurpose our speakers around our house. A $99 module would both lower the barrier to entry and give us those options!

I dont quite understand where it say 'make sure both are added to your system as separate rooms'. I want to add mine as rear surrounds with my arc and sub, so wouldnt I add them to that room (living room)? What am I missing here? any info or guidance appreciated.

Please allow bluetooth in surround sound. Or create a quick changeover process to remove Era 300s from surround to the paired stereo!

When I unplug the speakers they turn off despite being connected to WiFi. How do I avoid this?

I feel as though the Era 300's are overkill for vinyl listening becuase vinyl doesn't have dynamic sound. But if you have the money I guess go for it.

Hi there! You cannot use any speakers as fronts at this time, but we are always listening to feedback from customers, and it's possible that this type of configuration could be available in the future.

@Sonos Please read the original comment again. The customer is asking if you will consider turning on the Era300’s FRONT SPEAKER DRIVER for cinema config. Currently the front speaker driver is turned off when the Era300’s are configured as surround speakers. Just like Bluetooth and line-in is currently disabled during cinema config.

Great question. For Era 300s set up for surround sound, we recommend placing each surround speaker about 10 ft from your favorite listening position, angling them toward the seating area, similar to how you see them in the video 👆

What is the recommended placement height in inches when using 300s as rear surrounds? Should they be higher than my ears, just at ear level or lower?

When using Era 300 speakers as surrounds, leave at least 8" (20.32 cm) clearance around the sides of each speaker. Many users in the Sonos community like to place the speakers at ear-level. Traditional stereo setups often have an ideal place to sit in a room for the best listening experience, but with Era 300 the sound is sent in all directions, so you'll experience rich detail no matter where you’re seated. You can also use Trueplay to tune your system perfectly for your space.

when you connect to wifi, are you refering to connect the speaker to wifi? be specific.

Apperently because of WiFi 6 support, the previous advantages os Sonos net are not worth anymore. Just speculation by some other users

@@rahalrodrigo5430 It makes sense but I like having my Sonos speakers on their own network with Sonosnet. Wifi 6 can definitely handle more devices than Wifi 5 etc without bogging down though I agree.

Era speakers are not compatible with Boost, therefore cannot connect to SonosNet. However, like Sonos portable speakers, Era family products will connect to your Wi-Fi while the other speakers will continue to connect to SonosNet and the system can be played synchronously.

Expensive maybe, but not overpriced. Chicken feed in the world of HiFi and they do finally transform Sonos cinema configuration into a cohesive front to rear soundstage. Whether you like or dislike them for stereo/spatial music is a personal preference. What Sonos should have done is release a similar “surround” speaker without microphones, Bluetooth or line-in when they first released the ARC. A speaker like that could cost significantly less without the Era300 bells and whistles that get disabled anyway in cinema configuration.
