Just add some whitish stuff, homie. Unless youre totally snow capped everywhere, you want some brown and dark green even in the winter as there is still vegetation with the evergreens.

Can you remove the cape when you want easily

Yes you can. The cape and the hood are easily removable.

If i didnt want to use the cape part, how well does the shoulder piece fit when i have a backpack on or will they interfere with each other?

Yes, it would interfere with the shoulder piece. You might want to consider placing your backpack on top of it instead.
