This is now year 2022 and I'm getting back into pro audio after years of strictly IT. Just now learning about the PA2 and I must admit, now that I see how it works, it's an awesome unit and I appreciate your detailed explanation of how it works even back then. I'm using it with a pair of CDL12P tops, 2 more to be added later and one 1 Mackie DRM18 sub, also another to be added later. Excellent work man, Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm using a PA2 and find that just about everything you cover is essentially the same for the PA2. Honestly, if using an RTA mic I don't know why they even bother with speaker selection by brand/model. Did you ever ring out your amps in your speakers by the old 'clip light' method that we use when using external "regular" amps? I found that even when I downsize from my usual rack amp and JBL JRX115's to my Harbinger powered speakers, that's always resulted in an overall better sounding system than when I just set my powered speakers at 70% or so. They may end up at the same setting by either method- just curious if you tried both to see if there is a difference.
@vaiisking4 жыл бұрын
I never did that, I always was worried about maxxing out my system so my mentality was always to have more than you need and run it at 'normal' range and not really push it. Therefore I would always pretty much have the levels set to 'middle' settings

So sorry I missed this months ago. I copied from the pdf I have: A.1 Factory Reset In the event that a reset is required, the DriveRack® PX offers you the option of performing a “Soft” or “Hard” reset. The Soft Reset resets all operating parameters except user presets. The Hard Reset Procedure will reset all preset information back to the factory defaults. All Power-Up Functions require a button(s) to be pressed and held as the unit power is turned on. DriveRack PX Power-up Button Functions Factory (“Hard”) Reset. Press and hold the button at power-up until the following message appears: “! HARD RESET?” “Yes ” “No ” • Pressing the button will start a Factory Reset (All User Presets will become copies of the Factory Presets, all Utility settings will be defaulted, and all Security settings will be defaulted). • Pressing the button will abort the Factory Reset sequence and the unit will reset normally. System (“SOFT”) Reset • Press and hold the button at power-up until the following message appears: “! SOFT RESET?” “Yes ” “No ” • Pressing the button will start a System Reset (All Utility settings will be defaulted.) • Pressing the button will abort the System Reset sequence and the unit will reset normally.

No they don’t work with passive speakers. You’d have to get the other model made for that for any of the passive ones.

How unpleasant is it to run the wizard in a bar or other venue? Much as you would like, we don't have the magic ability to snap our fingers and kick everybody out of the venue to ring it out. Is it painful for the people who are already there during the wizard? We have a Behringer Feedback Destroyer with our passive mains: I wonder how the performance compares to the drive rack? Also, how would the ease of use compare? Finally, what Drive Rack would be best for a passive system? I'm reading that the DR 260 might be the most desirable.
@vaiisking5 жыл бұрын
I'm not gonna lie....the peeps don't really love the white noise for the wizard, but you can save the settings for each venue, so you really only need to do it once per venue if you use the same PA equip. For a passive PA, I would recommend the Driverack PA2 :) Cheers!

Hey, this is really great! I love the unit, but the instructions are unclear or nonexistent and I don't want to be bugging my ProAV friends all the time! Gonna keep digging for a better explanation of how to set the gains properly because my dj mixer into the the dbx at max volume is barely even touching the meter's lights on the front of the unit... Did you say that was sorted when you tested the pink noise or the feedback suppression or something?
@vaiisking6 жыл бұрын
Nascent Dnb you need to set each gain structure on each channel as if the dbx wasn’t even a part of the chain. This sets the bar for your output to the dbx. If it’s wrong or improperly set from the get go, everything down the chain is not going to work properly. After all channels being used have been set, start the dbx wizards.
@nascentdnb76576 жыл бұрын
Cheers! We discovered that the compressor kicks in based on the input signal, and the limiter is set to each individual output channel, so just dialing that in once the event is in full swing is important
@nascentdnb76576 жыл бұрын
and, I think the lights that weren't registering was the output lights... I think that just means that I would have the ability to use a much more powerful sound system with that drive rack

How is the best position imput switch level +4dbu or -10 dbv? Thank you
@vaiisking4 жыл бұрын
They are nothing more than signal adjusters. If the line coming in is too weak, change it to the +4 dbu, if it is too strong, change to -10 dbu, I want to say I had mine set to the +4 setting for input but if your level meter is showing too high into red, change it to the -10. Good luck!
