Tama pedals I have had nothing but problems with. We buy them because our favourite artists use them but if they have a problem with their pedal they just chuck it and have plenty of spares . The tama drive link is an embarrassment to pedals.

I’ve got a great hack for any drum hardware that likes to work loose. Automotive thread locker. You’ll want the blue kind. Red kind is more permanent. Blue you can still easily remove if necessary. Drum on my friend!

4:42 actually, the Darwin FTW pedals can have short and long board. it can be direct drive or strap drive too. they are VERY versatile if you want to change the settings.

I have Pearl's Redline Eliminators with a Trick drive shaft and Danmar felt beaters and I'm in love. I have no doubt those pedals are amazing as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I use a Tama Iron Cobra double Bass peddal and found that it has a lot of versatility and many adjustments. I also find that if I loosen the spring tension, I can achieve double effects on the single pedals allowing me to play quad beats by using my heel and ball of foot per pedal. Thus resulting in a quad beat. If you've never tried the Tama iron cobra pedals, I highly recommend them too.

I'm very jealous of you man. To be a part of the Pearl family. I have used Pearl pedals for several years now. But the Demon Drive got me hooked. The best pedals I have ever used. But I use the Iron Cobra felt beaters instead of the originals. They give a much better punch. They are extremely durable the Demon Drive. I have used mine for years and they still feel the same as when I got them. And that's quality. Keep it up man and rock on 🤘🏻

I just picked these up and holy crap are they nice. 9000's and good as well but the Yamahas and the demon drives just feel more beefed up and modern. The 9000's are kinda annoying to adjust.

Totally agree about the DW9000, man! It’s probably because they didn’t add lines for the beater and footboard adjustment. I sold mine after less than an year. LOL

Buena elección tio. Llevo tocando 17 años, tengo mil cosas de la marca y puedo decir con seguridad que el hardware de Pearl es la polla, ya sea un soporte o unos tornillos, va todo genial. En los cascos de las baterias puede parecerte mejor o más a tu gusto una marca u otra, pero en hardware pearl les pega una paliza a casi todas las marcas sino a todas, tengo herrajes en mi casa desde hace 16 años y están como nuevos, y les pones peso con platos de 20" o 19" y ni se menean a diferencia de otros. Y sus pedales son cojonudos, ya los eliminator de hace años eran un alucine la cantidad de piñones y configuraciones que podias ponerle, tengo uno de hace años y va genial aún a dia de hoy, y los demon drive ya son un flipe ticar con ellos aunque son bastante caros para mi gusto. Un saludo tio!! Dale duro!!😁

ACD pedals have changeable footboards as well, however if I recall correctly, they are in a whole different price range.

ACD uses the same base plate on all models so theoretically yes you can change between long/short boards but not out of the box. And yeah they’re in an entirely different price range but built to a far higher standard.

I have a P-3002D on my acoustic drums in our band room and a DW 9002 with chains on my e-drums at home. I still like the DW better tbh. I cant get used to the direct drive...

Interesting that you chose a longboard for metal stuff. I just tried a longboard pedal after 25 years of playing regular pedals and had the feeling the longer board makes for slightly more inertness. Therefore I found it a bit harder to play fast. But maybe I just gotta get used to it...

If I am not mistaken ACD Unlimited Darwin pedals can be converted from longboards to shortboards. But indeed Pearl has the best solution for it

Try using as shortboard and losing the heel plate. That's my setup and it works great if you have small feet. DW makes a Heeless 5000 but limited settings as they're overall garbage

Well, first and foremost, is there any kind of drum shop near where you live? Larger shops will have multiple pedals out you can try. But not all will carry higher end gear either. Otherwise, talk to friends and other drummers and pick brains, ask questions, and see if you can sit in for a little bit on their kits. I've very lucky in the fact I have pals up here who play similar gear to myself, so I can try different things out through them!
