There is some blue ink in the feed from when it was tested on the factory, it's not a big deal when you're using black ink but it is a good practice to flush the new pen.

@@RonKwok yes, you flush it with water using bulb syringe and use paper towel to suck out water through capilary effect. for pens compatable fith lamy cartriges there is a lifehack, when you cut the end of a cartridge it fits perfectly on a medical syringe/

Keep in mind that this is for Lamy pens. Not all fountain pens come with these long cartridges and if they are too short then just placing them in the barrel and screwing it down won't put pressure on the cartridge and it won't puncture. In those cases you have to push the cartridge in by hand instead and then screw on the barrel.

Yep, thanks for the clarification! Not all cartridges and pens are universal (although how dope would it be if they were) so check your pen manufacturer's ink and ink cartridge compatibility!

I’m right-handed myself, but here are a few things: 1. Use a broad tip to reduce feedback as you’re pushing the nib across the page 2. Underwrite by putting your hand underneath the line you’re writing so you don’t smear OR use blotter paper to dry out the ink 3. Use quick drying ink Hope this helps man!

Nope, as far as I know! You've gotta either get Lamy cartridges or the Lamy converter that allows you to fill in your own inks. Hope this helps!

Mine was a POS. Nib was defective. I tried to tune it, and I got it a bit better but it was garbage. Spent another $16 for a nib. It’s still just ok. Not a pleasant experience. Probably steer clear of Lami and spent money elsewhere. This was the pen that made me decide to quit buying junk pens and move on to ONLY higher end stuff. That means less but better toys.

Easy, you can't... If you use cartridges like these then once punctured air can get into the cartridge if you take it off the pen and the ink will dry out in the cartridge if left out long enough. So either you use it all up or you use a piston converter that you fill with bottled ink. I also wouldn't leave half-full cartridges lying around as they will spill ink everywhere

all lamys that i know of are tested with blue ink at the factory so if you’re going to switch colors right out of the box you could give the pen a quick cleaning, or don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd first make sure the ink cartridge is compatible with your pen. If it is, try another ink cartridge of the same type to see if that first one might be a defective one. If not, contact your pen manufacturer to troubleshoot!

Check for a spacer that came shipped with the pen - it’ll sit between the barrel and the handle, and should be taken out before install! Also check if your ink cartridge is oriented the right way 🙌
