honestly with the cost of needles its a no brainer, assuming you use them up in a short period Phase will come out more cost effective. On top of that you will not wear out records and have to replace them too. In every other respect there is not much of a difference. Their "resolution" continues to get better and the feel is pretty much the same 1:1 so its pretty nice to use. I have a few bits of kit, and I enjoy the feel of my 12's with records most of all. @@TheVirgology

I 💯 agree! There should be some way around this. It’s an old school tactic for calibrating beats and what not. I’ve had phase for years and still accidentally knock the magnet off its port forget there is a big clunky rectangle right there. The tech is there it seems there should not need to be a box on top of the record.

Is it possible to use two receivers with HID to be able to use all 4 decks in Serato Pro, or will I need to use RCA for that? I have the SL4 so I guess using the RCAs inputs in the box like I do Today with control vinyls will work, but the HID seems so nice.

Hey David, thanks so much for reaching out! It is definitely possible to use 2 Receivers and control all 4 decks in Serato DJ Pro! There are two ways that you can do so: - Use one Phase via HID (for decks 1&2 only) and one Phase via RCA (for decks 3&4). - Using both Phase units via RCAs. In order to control 4 decks at the same time, you'll have to use the RCAs and set the decks to "REL" mode. Today, the HID integration works on deck 1&2 only, hence it's impossible to use 2 Phase units via this mode at the same time on 4 decks. Hope this helps! For scratch mixing it’s awesome, but I find for smooth blend mixing for deep house etc I’m experiencing a ton of pitch drift. Mind you I’m mixing tracks via my Tidal subscription, and the laptop is on WiFi. I don’t use sync, but wanted to see if it did the same and yes, mucho drifto…. I’ll mess around and see if it does the same with tracks off my hard drive. (Edit for setup info below) 2x Technics 1200, Pioneer S9 mixer, connected via HID mode, both phase and serato Dj pro have current firmware updates.

Yes, you can totally use Phase with the setup you've described. 😉 Just so you know, with Serato Scratch Live, you won't be able to access our latest HID integration, as it only works with Serato DJ Pro. Actually, it depends on what software are you using, but let me give several examples: -The Rane SL2/3/4 are supported by Serato up to version 2.5.5 (which is not the latest version and therefore does not allow access to the latest updates, but still allows access to the "WIR" mode, and seems to be the most used) -The SL1 is only supported by Scratch Live, and not by Serato DJ Pro -The Denon DS1 is supported by Serato DJ Pro until the current version, (but is not produced by the manufacturer anymore, however, you can grab it second-hand) -The Traktor audio 6/10 for Traktor -Rekordbox interface 2 for Rekordbox Hope this helps! I’ve done that already but it doesn’t work. I’ll give a try again and instead of getting power to phase via my DJMS11, I’ll get power straight from the wall. Also, I’ll wiped phase remotes clean since they come Serato ready. We’ll see. Thanks for the feedback.

I love my phase, i really do, you made an awesome device there and its tightness in serato with hid is flawless. But I also love to put features on my mixer like fe scratch bank that where never meant to be there...or double my pad modes and stuff like that. Something serato simply doesnt offer. So I have to compromise one way or another. I read below that you have opend hid mode for traktor, so I recon there is no exclusivity agreement with serato and the vdj guys could use it also, is that right?

Hey James, that's a good point! That's in fact the one "turntablist" gesture that needs to be adapted with Phase, to be honest. Of course, the best way to understand if it's going to be a difficulty for you would be to test it (from a friend or a store maybe?) to see if you can find an alternative. Because the spindle itself is hardly catchable with a Remote indeed, some DJs manage to use the Remote to do so. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm here to help! ✌️

Hey there! If you have an analog mixer you need an external soundcard to enable the Digital Vinyl System (DVS) in order to make Phase work. This way, you don't need to change your mixer, but rather add the soundcard, and you are good to go! Which DJ software are you currently using? Hey James, that is a good question! :) Actually, there is no "more reliable" way between the RCA and HID, because both of them essentially do the same job of communicating the information between the Receiver and the Remote. The difference between those though, is that when using the HID mode (the USB cable), the information transmission time between the laptop to the Receiver and to the Remote is much quicker and faster, simply because it now goes directly from the laptop to Phase, differently than with RCAs. With the RCAs, the communication goes a little longer, since it has to go through the mixer between the laptop and Phase. However, in both situations, the communication is at its highest accuracy and latency! I hope this explains it. :) Do let me know if you have any other questions!

My only gripe is the battery compartment. Is the battery replacecable when the life of the battery dies out or would I need to purchase new Phase controllers because these are not cheap. I mentioned this on another post but the post was removed. Things that make you go hmm.

Hi there! In short, Phase works only with timecode vinyl and doesn’t read the actual records. It is created to be used together with digital vinyl system (DVS) and communicates the tracks from your DJ software to the Remotes on the top of the records. Hope this helps! ✌

@@PhaseDJ sorry your wording is confusing ,, this uses time coded vinyl , the grooves on the vinyl represent the time related to the file that is stored and played from the computers drive.. Eg , so when the needle is dropped 10cm into the radius of the control vinyl the needle reads the groove and sends that audio to the software (serato ) which then knows where to play the file from... this is not how you ave explained it ... "needle transmits the tracks from the DJ software to the vinyl" tis makes no sense whatso ever ..? just really confused me for a bit .. so im just writing this so as not to confuse more potential customers ... this statement from your earlier post is really misleading ... "phase works only with timecode vinyl and not actual records." so to conclude .. phase works with any vinyl that will spin on yer turntable , the timecode needed to control your dvs system is generated from the rotation of the magnetic things as they are rotated ... is kinda how understood the system ..

@Ryan Sanders heya! Yes, we wanted to say that Phase doesn’t read the actual vinyl and only works with timecode, as that was the first question, whether it can play actual records. In short, nope, it cannot play actual records. But! You don’t need to buy special timecode vinyl to perform with Phase, you can use any type of vinyl underneath it. As you said, since it doesn’t read the grooves, there is no difference what type of wax is there. :) Sorry for the confusion caused, we hope this all makes sense! It seems you do know the Phase technology pretty well. 😉

Hey there! In one Phase unit you get 1 Receiver and 2 Remotes, but if you want to use only one Remote at a time, it's not a problem at all! The other one can simply charge in the Receiver and you can just switch them whenever ;)

@@tomaszsiomasz4321 Yes, in order for Phase to work, the Receiver is connected to your laptop and communicates with the Remotes on top, so the Remote does not work on its own. ✌

We’re more than happy to explain what Phase is all about. 😉 You’re right, one of the main reasons we initially created Phase was to fix the issues some turntable DJs were encountering with their setups (fragility of needles, faulty turntables, etc.) But! Even if your setup is in perfect condition, Phase can bring you something more to the table. Why can't phase manager be uninstalled from Windows?... It doesn't show in apps list... And the uninstall doesn't work because phase manager is running.. kill disabling the phase manager exe in task manager doesn't fix this... Whats going on here? So i cant update phase manager? You cannot upgrade the program by running the latest exe from your website... Same reason, phase manager is running fail.... This is behaving like your program is dodgy?? Wtf going on..

Why absolutely everyone doing tutorial-videos on how to set up DJM S11/S9 etc. with Phase is not mentioning that you have to change the outputs in the Pioneer-ASIO-control panel to "Timecode" is really beyond me. It can never work without this setting, yet every tutorial-maker thinks, this is information is so totally unimportant that it's not worth mentioning. It is really far beyond me....🤦took me two weeks and around 15 "tutorials" to finally find out and get it working

Nice video! -I have no issues connecting to Serato DJ Pro, at all! But, I can’t connect Phase to Algorithm DJay Pro Ai, AT ALL!! I’ve changed Phase settings in manager Phase app to 1000 as indicated, yet there’s no DVS signal at all!! It’s frustrating. Please help!! Thanks in advance
