By using the Optical out. Did you just not bypass the excellent DAC with in the Wiim Pro Plus. To use the DAC in the WiiM Pro Plus you have to use the Analog outs.

I was excited to receive my new WiiM Pro Plus. After taking it out of the box, plugging in the USB power, installing the app, and trying to run through the setup, it cannot find the device wirelessly (as it did for you at 5 min 48 secs). If I plug in an RJ-45 patch cable to my router, it works fine. Probably going to send this back and order something else.

A LITTLE CONFUSED. My old Yamaha had two LEFT + &- and two RIGHT +&- speaker outputs. Easy to connect two speaker and know what side of the room to place them. The WIIM has only one set of speaker outputs, so how do you connect two speakers?

Question: if using the optical out to your sound bar, does it mean it won’t be using the built in awesome AKM chipset DAC instead of your soundbar dac.? Just curious.

I do not think the built-in DAC sounds good at all. I did an A/B comparison with a 1990's CD player and the CD player sounded better.

I keep trying to wipe that hole off my iPad screen thinking it’s a bug or water. But good video, I like your presentation and you definitely seem to know what you’re talking about. Just ordered the Pro Plus today for $170 on Prime Day, can’t wait. When you group 2 different rooms together, can it be any wi fi speakers, like Amazon Studio speakers in family room and the Wii playing through a stereo receiver in the basement? Thanks again.

Question, So the phone app uses the bluetooth to stream the music to the WIIM device and that device is connected to your speaker or soundbar. How do you get good quality music if you first have to bluetooth it from your phone to the WIIM device
@bugante8 ай бұрын
No. That’s not right. The WiiM device picks up the streams directly from the service you select from the fairly extensive list. The WiiM home app on your phone is only used to control what the device does. Another way to look at it is to imagine the phone and app as the front control panel of the WiiM device. He wasn’t playing from the Spotify app on his phone, but was using “Spotify Connect”.

Same question. Why would you need this gadget at all. I have a 10 year old chromebook streaming what I need to nad2 dac and receiver to the speakers. From what I hear Wiim is just an intermediary I do not need.

Thanks for demystifing this gadget. I live in the dark ages of analog, but really want to add streaming to my "antique" system. It appears that this will do the trick. One question: when I sync my phone to the Wiim pro plus, is the signal bluetooth, or is it originating from the Wiim? Bluetooth sounds horrible IMHO, and I'd like to get the best quality possible from streaming. Please lmk.

@bugante5 ай бұрын
The source material being played needs to have been recorded at 24 bit. Only then can it be played back. Not all players are capable of reproducing such high quality, but the WiiM has this capability, and is able to de-code and play back material recorded at 24 bit.

You spoke about systems that used to have / use a coaxial connection or used to have / use trigger connections. What do you mean ‘used to have / use’? 😉 Most new systems still have coaxial connections and trigger connections. Like my Leak CDT is connected via a coaxial cable since it gives a better sound. And both my Leak CDT and Leak Stereo 130 there is a trigger cable. So both connections are still in use and are definately only on systems from the past. Active speakers and soundbars might not have trigger and coaxial connections. But i would never prefer those over a real system.😉
