Absolutely! Miriam's Earthen Cookware, that's where I got mine from, I regularly prepare silky thick and delicious yogurt. As show in the video the clay pots have micro pores which let only the water to evaporate and keeps all the nutrients. Most importantly it’s made of 100% natural clay sourced and hand crafted in US.

I am so passionate about cooking and have learnt it only by watching and following the recipes of Sanjeevkapoor. I can cook variety of dishes but if u ask me to cook basic stuff i was always helpless. But this new series is very helpful. Thank u for coming to our rescue. One more thing if you could host one full episode on chopping different vegetables and fruits tht will be great.

@dwaynewladyka5779 жыл бұрын
Wow. In places like Seattle, Vancouver or Toronto, the humidity in the air is quite high. In drier climates, the yogurt would set better. That's what I think.

Thanks for sharing the tips as so far no one uses the clay pot / earthen pot to let the yogurt to fermate ! I have no problem with her Indian accent , wonder why Mr. Steve Tarling can't touching with her. Once I apologized for my husband spoke in poor English , the Australian sales girl replied me " Is ok, he is already very smart as I, can't speak a word of Chinese ! For a Chinese old man that can speak our language, is great ! "

can we use store bought or tetra pack milk???
@vinnyy178911 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is bacteria in the yoghurt called Lactobacillus. When you add the tiny bit of yoghurt into the warm milk, the bacteria population multiplies which coagulates the milk. Finally, you get yoghurt.

Chef Anupa, thank you for the video. Can I use UHT milk in boxes? By the way, How many CDs do this series have and how much is it? Thank you.
@rboudville9 жыл бұрын
lester chua UHT milk is Heat Treated and not recommended in the making of Yoghurt, Curd or Dhai. You won't be able to culture the acidobifidus bacteria easily.

Curds are another type of dairy product. Curds are made by curdling or coagulating the milk. This can be done by mixing edible acidic substances in to the milk, such as lemon juice or vinegar. Introducing these substance to the milk, will allow the milk to curdle and separate into two parts. The liquid part is the whey and the milk solids will be the curds. The whey contains the whey proteins of the milk, whereas the curds are the milk proteins or casein.

Very nice.....but the clay pots have a lot of liquid absorbed inside the clay? Is that sanitary for the new batch? How could you wash that out of it?
@jitenprajapati75837 жыл бұрын

@malv49356 жыл бұрын
Once your first batch of yogurt is done, you need to transfer it out into another container (to be used or kept in the refrigerator), and the clay pots can be washed normally. Let them dry till all the moisture evaporates. Once your clay pots are dry they can be reused for the next batch of yogurt.

hi. i'm new to cooking so i don't understand this clearly. what you're doing is making more yogurt from a small amount of yogurt? also, is there some kind of bacteria in the yougurt?
@parvathylal4668 жыл бұрын
is this what people call as greek yogurt?
@murat_n10 жыл бұрын
Key difference: Yoghurt and curd are two different types of dairy products. These two are two different forms of milk that are created by fermenting milk in some way. Yogurt is a diary product that is created by fermenting milk using bacteria. The bacteria that is used to ferment milk is known as ‘yogurt cultures’. Curd is a dairy product obtained by curdling with an edible acidic substance such as lemon juice or vinegar, and then draining off the liquid portion.

Is it OK to use USA store bought plain yogurt? Will it taste like regular Indian plain yogurt?
@CPSelenaDoje10 жыл бұрын
It is okay to use just US plain yogurt because I tried it at my house and since it is very cold at my house I usually put the bowls in the oven with the light turned on.

Hello , dairy walas put lot of water in milk while selling it , you said we must heat the milk at 40 degrees , and I think, to make yoghurt we need milk without water , so what should we do , can't we boil the milk until the water in it gets evaporated ?

Yogurt is most commonly created using cow’s milk; however it can also be created using water buffalo, goats, ewes, mares, camels, and yaks. In order to create yogurt, bacteria such as Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus bacteria culture are used. To create yogurt, the milk is first heated to about 80 °C in order to kill any additional bacteria that may be present and to denature milk proteins.

Yogurt is a diary product that is created by fermenting milk using bacteria. The bacteria that is used to ferment milk is known as ‘yogurt cultures’. The bacteria ferment the lactose in the milk causing it to produce lactic acid, which gives yogurt is tangy and acidic taste.Yogurt has been dated back to India and Iran circa 500 B.C. In India, yogurt and honey are known as "the food of the gods" and are a part of festivals and offerings. The word ‘yogurt’ is derived from the Turkish word ‘yoğurt’

@dhrubopilot9 жыл бұрын

perfect explanation...........but you forgot to churn the mixture before setting it...........and it is better to boil the milk and bring it to warm status before putting in the curd............clay pot funda is a matter of surface evaporation..
