I’m Buddhist, but have Sikh friends, Sikhism is a beautiful peaceful and noble religion. Sikhs are extremely kind and hardworking and have much in common with Buddhism in this regard. I love going to their private family owned gurdwara and listening to the granthi being read and listening to Kirtan and having langar 👍🙏🏽😊👳🏾♂️

Really like the shaster Prakash (the sarbloh weapons in front) as kirpan khanda kharag tupak tabar ar teer, Saif sorohi sehati yahah hamaraa peer. Shasters are our peer, should always try to have sarabloh shasters with guru sahib. These iron weapons can have an effect on magnetic fields if any lower vibration (ghosts demons etc) tries to disturb especially if you "power" them up with naam and bani.

Wahe Guru ji ka Khalsa . Wahe Guru ji ki fateh How does one take steps to taking Sikh Dharma. The very first places/directions on becoming a Khalsa ?
@SikhDharmaInternational4 жыл бұрын
Dear Gian Adesh - there is not enough space here to detail all the steps you might pursue to dive deeper into the path of Sikh Dharma. But you can begin by doing some reading online (www.sikhdharma.org) as there are many online resources. Also, you can reach out to any Sikhs in your community to see if there is a gurdwara anywhere near you so that you can have the experience of receiving the darshan of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It is said that if the devotee takes one step toward the Guru, then the Guru takes 1000 steps toward the devotee. Any step you take will begin the journey. Blessings

QUESTION - When the Guru Grayhawk Sahib was places in my home, Rolled towels were placed beneath it upon the desk/table where it sits. I researched this video to know whether the Guru could simply be placed upon the table? It’s format consists of all the volumes in one, so it would benefit the ease of reading without having the towels underneath. Thank you in advance for your reply. 🙏🏼

The tradition has been to place the Siri Guru Granth Sahib on a Manji or small Indian-style cot with stretched fabric center and wooden legs and rim. But if that is not available, then a table may do. It is also traditional to place a small pillow under each of the sides of the open volume for slightly elevated support and then another small pillow under the far edge of the spine of the volume to make it a little easier to read the usually large volume. Rolled towels are somewhat informal and should be replaced with small pillows as soon as you can purchase or make some. Also, it is tradition to place a clean (new and unused) folded bed sheet under the volume.

The cloths used to cover the Siri Guru Granth Sahib are called "Rumallas" and can be purchased in India if you inquire at a gurdwara where to find them. But you can also make your own or have them sewn for you. They are intended to be a way of showing respect and keeping the Siri Guru Granth Sahib clean and properly covered when not being read. They should be kept clean and can be simple or highly decorated.

There are translations of Guru Sahib in many languages and they generally have the Gurmukhi script in one line, the transliteration or Punjabi script in one line and English or another language in the 3rd line. This is helpful for those who do not read or understand Gurmukhi or can be used for Akhand Paaths as well. Blessings

Sat Nam, we also don't have any sources. Most likely, you will need to have someone make the pillows that you need. Or if you are in India or know someone in India, possibly a rumalla maker would make the pillows. Best of luck.

Can we hang a curtain in front of the guru granth sahib and do our daily kundalini yoga and sadhana ?
@SikhDharmaInternational4 жыл бұрын
Some people do as you describe but it should be done with full reverence for the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, perhaps keeping the Siri Guru Granth Sahib in prakash (closed and covered), whenever the curtain is closed and not being attended by yourself or someone else.

but the Granth Sahib does not emphasize a physical gurdwara...the gist of all our Gurus reminders is to tune to the God InBeing thro our Heart..via..Simran or Jaap...and to expand our Soul Consciousness of God's Consciousness that is ever reveberating as Shabd.....nevertheless...theres no harm in having a physical meet up place for like minded souls..ie.a gurdwara....
