Pro tip. Download a DB meter to your phone. One that shows a running graph. You can see small changes in the sound and find the loudest point very easy and precise.

In the ezcad folder there is an app called corfile or corfile 2. Its a calibration app for this and created a file from the results. But it will mark a calibration square, you then Mesure from point to point and it saves the values in to the correction file, that you open just above the galvo settings

Great informative video. Just got my Raycus 30W system and all your vids are invaluable. Just want to make a correction: Doubling the focal distance (approximately) doubles the spot size which decreases power density by a factor of FOUR, not TWO. (watts/cm^2). Twice the diameter is 4x the area.
@LaserEverything2 жыл бұрын
yes thank you :) I've since learned this, face palm moment when it was explained to me lol
@YAOG2 жыл бұрын
So what does this mean with regard to adjusting the power for a larger lens? I went from a 110 to 300 and I'm having trouble with the power conversion. Things aren't looking quite right.
@SteveN-bh3wv2 жыл бұрын
@@YAOG you're almost tripling the focal length, which means the spot size is 3x larger and it thus thepower density is 8x lower. So you either have to slow it down by appx 8x or, I'm not sure what since i don't have a lot of exp work galvos and settings yet. For example, i can get nice black marks on SS with a 160mm fl lens, but can't figure it out for a 254mm fl lens.

Sounds like maybe your x and y galvos are switched in your F3 Param or something is/isn't inverted that shouldn't be in your F3 param. Check those invert and galvo settings and play with them to see if they solve your issue. Switch from Galvo 1 = x to Galvo 2 = x or vice versa and see if it makes a difference. Also there's a newer version of this video which you can watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIu3aq2FpZ6Gopo If you need more help feel free to join the discord: discord.gg/J8FevEJk Hope that helps!

How many hours of operation does the lens last before it's damaged
@LaserEverything2 жыл бұрын
If you take care of them I see no reason why they shouldn't last the lifetime of the machine. A lot less wear and tear on these than the classic CO2 Gantry lenses.

@@LaserEverything I work on silver which is highly reflective, the reflected beams hit the lens which damages it. Is there a way I can make the damage minimum?

Your highly informative video really saved me at work. After buying our Monport 20W, I got it set up reasonably well and production was using it. Unfortunately over time, people adjusted settings to the point where it couldn’t be used. (It was only doing what people “told” it to do.) Thanks to your video I’ve now got it 99% properly set up. I’m still trying to get the laser to cut where the Red Light Pointer shows up. I’ve tried adjusting the Aspect Offsets, which moved everything over and am starting to play with the Red Light Pointer offsets. Am I trying the right things? Thank you!!
@LaserEverything11 ай бұрын
Rather than shift the laser to where the red dot hits, its better to keep the output of the laser centralized to the lens (rather than shifting the field output around), and instead move the red dot field to match. Will net a better accuracy and lend better usage of the work area from the lens, otherwise you may handicap the lens into a smaller area by running the field into the edge of the lens offcenter. It sounds like you know what needs adjusting though! If you want a guide, search "red dot" on our channel and it should be the first or second option, for adjusting the red dot to be accurate to the laser output. You'll be rocking and rolling back to 100% in no time.

Thank you for all your videos, they are a huge help. I do have a question. I upgraded my lens from 200mm to 300mm and when running a test on a wide engraving on steel using ezcad2's default params i found that one side of the engraving was turning a copper color (which was unexpected) and the middle and other side silver/white (which i did expect). What could this indicate in your opinion? In the meantime back to more testing to see whats going on :D The joys of learning!
@fleetreadygaming3 ай бұрын
haha figured out part of the reason, forgot to convert my params over to 300 from 200. Learning! :D

hi sir, i got one question, I have two lenses, both I need to use daily, but need to change settings everytime when I want do 110 or 300, is there something like instant change of settings option pls?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
yes, you want a separate ezcad folder for each lens. Watch this video and follow EVERY step. When you finish this video you will have a completely new ezcad folder with which you can fill the library with new settings for the new lens that wont affect the original. Then you can just open the ezcad labeled for each specific lens. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIu3aq2FpZ6Gopo

Are you running ezcad off the USB stick? If so move it to your computer and make sure it is unzipped and try again. Running ezcad off the USB or out of a compressed folder breaks a ton of features.

As it engraves one section and moves to the next split line, the image is just slightly shifted. I would like to be able to do continuous rotary image engraving with my fiber laser. @@LaserEverything I think he means the additional red dots that replace the focal stick. The two dots come from two sources close to the lens, each at a slightly different angle and when the two dots merge into one by manipulating the height of the arm - the focal length is set perfectly. These sources can be calibrated, but manually by loosening the screws, so they can only be set for one lens. When you change lenses frequently in your works, other lenses need to be adjusted by focal stick... By default, this is set by the manufacturer for the first lens you bought the device with. At least I think so ;).

Does the smaller area lens engrave faster then if your goal is to get a deep engrave in metal? Maybe an experiment with same settings different lens.
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
I need a few more lenses to do that effectively but yes a 70mm is delivering much more energy to the target than a 200mm so you'll get to your target depth in less time.
