Iv always wanted to be a tattooist since being a kid im pretty ok at drawing and making stencils i just bought a cheapish coil gun and loads of fake skin, i have no intention of using it on myself. When i get good at this i will upgrade the machine and my skins qualitys till i am at a professional position. Thanks so much. Mine comes today and need to know the basics. I wnqted a old school machine as the pens are something to work towards to enhance my experience.

I'm sorry I'm so late to this tutorial! I purchased a Beginner's DragonHawk Tattoo Kit recently, needless to say, I had absolutely no manual nor concept constructing it. My first attempt at tattooing myself was woeful lmao... I wasn't even knowledgable regarding the two different handsets with one being for outline and the other for shading. Let's just say, if I had done my research properly by discovering your terrific channel, I may have avoided using the shading device to disasterously ink my foot instead of equiping myself with the proper outlining device instead. Now I have learned the significant difference thanks to you and your informative tutorial

Am currently a piercing artist and want to get into tattooing eventually but can't afford to learn using my studio's tattoo artist's equipment so I got myself a cheap kit online to start out. I do appreciate a poper-ish set up. But that needle shouldnt be protruding from the tip when not running, and the arm-bar doesnt determine lining from shading. The front spring is the difference. And helpful tip: bend the needle a little to help with needle bounce. Hope for the best and good luck in your endeavors in the industry.

No the machine's are setup completely different unless you get a tattoo pen machine that uses cartridges 👍

How far does the needle stick out from the point of the tip?

The tattoo needle should not be sticking out of the tip anymore than 2mm and no less than 1mm, but keep in mind everyone's skin types are different 👍👍👍👍

How far into the grip do you put the metal tube before tightening it?

Hi Jm! Very interesting video. The tattoo machine reminds me of an airbrush in some aspects. Does the ink get poured into the well just before the needle? (there looks to be a well between the needle and the blue covering). Brenda
