I own the Apollo twin X. I can program a Univac 1100 and a GE440 and canoperate an imported Swedish toaster, but this really does give me a headache. I'm watching this video multiple times to figure out how to bypass the Apollo monitoring and use DAW software monitoring with my preferred plug-ins. Shouldn't be this hard.

This would have been a lot more useful if it were twice as long and actually explained HOW to do what it was doing onscreen, instead of merely saying WHAT to do, as if someone setting this up for first time already knows HOW. Thanks for your video: I'm new to Logic and UAD Console. The issue I'm having is that when punch recording, I can hear both the original take and the punch-in take at the same time. Software monitoring is disengaged in Logic. In our current setup we're using the UAD Console ALT 1 Output to feed our SPL MTC Mk2 monitor controller.

What about audio from my microphone I’m not getting a signal in my Logic Pro X DAW from the UA Interface and for the life of me I can’t figure out why? Software? I just updated my Mac to the latest to see if that helps, not sure how to get the most recent software for UA? I’m using an SM7B and it’s not getting a signal on the channel 1 strip for audio and not outputting and I do have output and input settings under preferences in logic selected to use my UA Interface via thunderbolt connection and all it says is failed I’ve tried closing and re opening UA and Logic no dice please help someone?!! 😩

In 2013 I bought my Apollo Duo. I like to monitor thru logic (no issues). But for some reason I could not turn off the Direct Monitoring on Outs1&2. My solution this whole time was to just use 3&4 outs as my mains. Now 7 years later I don't want to do that... I just mute 1&2 in Console. But if it was that easy, why didn't I do that then... and also even more confusing is... wouldn't using outs 3&4 require me to mute those channels to not hear 2 signals when recording? Surely I would have just done that for 1&2. I'm confused as to what the issue was exactly. Was it NOT possible at the end of 2013 to disable Direct Monitoring in Console... on 1&2. Anyone know? Thanks!

It took me a couple of days to set up but,you have yo go into preference and load the apollo into the audio ... But even installing was annoying ,i had to turn of my comp and hold the power button to get the security window and then allow premission for the apollo..

Do I still have to install the whole software package in the UA Connect? I've only installed the console for the drivers I guess, but it works fine with logic... i'm confused. This video is a total miss and so far I have to say that UA is a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT when it comes to simple things like HOW THE F*** DO YOU USE IT. Seriously when you fork out over a thousand bucks for some kit (which doesn't come with a frikkin thunderbolt cable) and there are no relevant instructions on its use my absolute recommendation would be DON'T BUY THIS CRAP!

So, for the completely unfamiliar, how about a video that shows step by step set-up with the proper thunderbolt cables and adapters for those using earlier Mac's? I would also include step by step instructions on how to download the software and firmware. I can't get my Apollo to show up on my Mac. At first, all it would say was, NO DEVICE FOUND. Now it's sayng CONNECT DEVICE. It's connected, with Apple cables! I'm dead in the water here, and I have been searching for this information all morning. Also waiting to hear back from UA.

If you want to record the preamps/plugins you’ve chosen from within the UAD console monitor to logic you need to click ‘record enable’ instead of just ‘monitor’ on the console monitor so it records with these fx in real time.

Make sure your system permits UAD to make changes to various processes and events. You can find permissions that may have been blocked in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Then you have to restart system usually. Additionally, UA's support indicates to have the thunderbolt icon on the cable facing upwards on both the device and your computer, don't ask me why or if this even makes a difference to most people.

Hi I just bought the OX Universal Audio and tried to get it running from my Apogee One interface. I receive signal from my amp that passes through the OX but when I enter through the instrument input in my Apogee it does not reproduce any cabinet sound or effects, delay or reverbs trom the Ox. I'm kinda regretting dropping $800 on my Twin X Duo. It's just so immensely hard to set up, I hate it. I've had it for a few months now and I can't stand the whole console application you have to set up, disabling software monitoring, etc. Just let me plug the thing in and let it work. Every time I open a new logic session I have to scour the internet for a tutorial on something. Please make the product more simple, potentially with a software update. I'm sure if you made a "plug'n'play" mode, people would flock to the product.

I was the same way today. I only bought the Solo but it literally took me over 2 hours just to set it up, register, and install. I didn’t even want to use it after that cause my head hurt so much lol but I’m sure it’ll get better for us we just have to keep learning. The Twin is very powerful if used correctly.

@@velocitycurve Things have definitely gotten better. I now have a separate vocal booth, so I use the talkback mic and stuff now. There are still many features that I don’t use, particularly with the software routing side of things. I would say I only take advantage of 40% of its features honestly. One thing to be desired is a second headphone output on the back of the unit; that would make my life so much easier. Unfortunately I’m not doing as much studio work at the moment because I’m living in a different city for work for the summer, but this fall I’ll be back and hopefully learning more about the unit.

Like instead of recording with uad auto tune in console use auto tune as an audio fx in logic but still hear the effect while recording. Thanks.

You can route the audio from an Aux (with the effects on it) in Logic to virtual channels in console and monitor/play through any plugin this way. Make sure the outputs on the aux in Logic are the same as the Virtual ones in console, ie not Stereo out, but 5-6, in my case. The way you would do it in a case with a UAD plugin, either to put the effect as a record insert in Console, but make sure it is in "UAD MON" mode - or if it's a stereo plugin, as an insert on an Aux channel in Console and send it to the channel. There's a video tutorial with Fap Dupont and some woman, where he's showing you how to do this. Just search Console and Fap Dupont. Hope that helps!

To record guitar using one of the UA amp plugins directly in the Apollo Twin X, do I select create "audio" track or create "guitar or bass" track in Logic Pro X?

You create an Audio track on logic - because the instrument itself is plugged into the audio interface (physical). If you are using a preamp or plugin with the guitar/bass through your universal audio interface- you need to record enable the plugins/preamps that you’ve chosen on the universal audio console monitor (the UAD Apollo monitor screen that is there with or without logic open). Record enable is the button to the right of the screen (I think it turns red) on the UAD console monitor. If you want to add the plugins or fx after you’ve recorded the guitar/bass part you can add it them the way you would with other fx/plugins/preamps from within logic. They explain how to do this in different ways in this video. Logic should have the UAD preamps/plugins listed with all the others. Kind’ve complicated but once you figure it out it should work!

For some reason my pans on logic does not work after routing the stereo out to the virtual 1/2 of the UAD console on my Apollo Twin. This is driving me crazy.. it works fine when i turn off the Apollo and Console when the sound interface switches back to the macbook speakers. What am i doing wrong?

is there any way to stop the installation of those tones of plugins which one needs to buy them in the end? I don't need them and I haven't got too much space on my macbook pro. Is it possible to install just the drivers and control software? thank you!

i know it's a month later but hit the Audio FX button on the channel in Logic, scroll down to Audio Units, then Univeral Audio, and it'll show you all the plugins.

UA help please! I'm overdubbing some guitars on a logic session and everything I record, with or without unison plugs is printed about half a second late, I manually have to drag regions to the position I played the notes in the instrument. Why is that? I'll try disabling software monitoring but I don't think that's the issue! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

maybe... if you are using a UA interface the specs are for a I7 or greater - and you will need thunderbolt 3 ports - I used my 2020 MacBook Pro with an i5 and the fan runs instantaneously...whoos!

Can u move UAD plugins to external hard drive and still use them from the hard drive ?

Since I doubt they will reply I will, if you intend to save them on the hard drive you will just have to use the hard drive with every session or you won't be able to use the plugins. Also, you will still need your apollo or arrow to use them. hope this helps.
