OverviewI had an old Black and Decker Firestorm set that was getting very long in the tooth kzbin.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv so it was an easy decision when this set went on sale. I'm not a pro or a handyman. I'm an occasional DIYer. So for me, this set is fantastic. I am very happy with my purchase.The Good Parts Very well priced for what you get Comes with everything you need - two batteries, a charger, and a carry bag The products feel very well made Not too heavy The drills are small and ergonomic (for my smallish hands) Huge ecosystem - Dewalt makes a lot of tools that use the same battery type and chargerCould Be Better I guess I could say that I wish the batteries were bigger, but that's a relatively minor compaint

Great clear and concise video! I have a 1952 36" Do-All that I primarily use for metal work, but have been wanting to do some resaw work with as I know it is more than capable of quality cuts... Up until now my knowledge on how to best approach it has been the only thing preventing me from giving it a try. Thanks for doing such a great job sharing how to maximize the probability of success!

I have the exact same bandsaw, dont ever seam to beat able to tune it up this good. I always have a little blade flutter, so when I set the breaing like you did, they turn slowly as the blade jangles against them slightly. Any thoughts on fixes? It's a new blade and I feel like the blade is pretty tight.

Thanks for the tutorial. I am not sure I agree with putting the gullets there, as I did that for a brand new resaw king blade and had the proper tension set (according to the tension guide, I did not know your method at the time), and then after sawing for just a few pieces of wood (overall wood length sawn over a few weeks was not even 16 ft), the blade snapped due to cracks that formed in multiple places in the gullet area and not where the blade was welded together. I worked with the blade manufacturer, and they were great and sent me a replacement blade as it should not have failed like it did. I realize that can happen with a blade regardless of how you set it up, but if the highest tension is in the "machined and curved " area of metal, and there are any rougher spots or tiny machining chips/scratches...that is where cracks can more easily form and propagate. So I guess this is more of a "everyone should inspect their blade often and use proper safety". In any case, the rest of what you said is super helpful and that should make an awesome experience for anyone doing resawing. :)
@katzmosestools
@katzmosestools 4 жыл бұрын
I would stand behind this method to the death hahaha. You really should look up the Snodgrass method. He's the undisputed king of bandsaws. Blades can develop cracks if you leave them with tension overnight or it could have just been a faulty blade.
@josephkrug8579
@josephkrug8579 4 жыл бұрын
@@katzmosestools Yeah, I was careful to leave it un-tensioned, but I agree it could have been a bad blade, and was really happy the blade manufacturer stood behind it to get me another one. I will check out the Snodgrass method, thanks for that and for always trying to put out such useful content. :)

I understand putting the gullet blade on the crown of the wheel for the top wheel, but is this supposed to be true for the bottom wheel as well? I've found that I can get the blade centered on the top, but not the bottom. Should that matter? I ask because my blade has started wobbling front to back, and I can't get it to track on the bottom wheel.
@katzmosestools

I have a small bandsaw (Grizzly 803) that I have a terrible time keeping set up. The blade runs off the crown with the most minuscule of adjustment. It runs right by. Is my blade tension too tight? I'm beginning to think I'd be better off with a scroll saw.
