For people getting errors still, you probably need a gcc compiler too. I just installed gcc-make-run as well and it went from the fabled 'g++ could not be spawned" error to just working fine.

For those who are still getting this error in windows, make sure you are running atom as an administrator otherwise it will show the same error and would not be able to compile!

For all laptops, including older Intel and AMD, such as 2.1 Ghz X2: you can turn on the atom energy saving feature, the instruction set at Balanced mode. You have to choose the inbuilt text editor, such as Word Pad, and write some sensible text, the laptop can understand. Few sentences are enough. Do it on battery. After a while the cpu load will reach 0%, the fan will remain silent. My laptop reached 0% on energy saving mode, and 3% currently on Balanced mode. Keeping on with text editing, the laptop may reach 0% load on all modes. On older laptops the battery is calibrated to 1 h 9 min max time, regardless of the power usage.

If I'm not mistaken, with Atom-IDE plugin you'll have console in Atom's window, under the code, like in VS.. Or may be you'll need one more plugin for it, except Atom-IDE... Read about it, it should be article like "GitHub and Facebook made IDE from Atom" (it had same name in few Russian sites, i think original article should have the same name)

This only does 32 bit code generation. You should use mingw-w64, since most computers are now 64 bit.

Open CMD as administrator.

Changing the permissions or opening the cmd.exe as Administrator (UAC Elevation) are both most likely incorrect. You would have to show info for someone to debug the situation

You should have downloaded gpp-compiler by kriscross7 not linter-gcc by atom-linter...

Great tutorial , slow direct and includes all you need to get setup to write basic code. I would recommend updating the instructions to include data from the comments. One common issue is the path. Getting this right for any IDE or editor on Windows is a unnecessary pain in the ass.

ProgrammingKnowledge the ide is really bad it cannot apply simple arithmetic operations. Im not saying that you should fix it, what i want is a better compiler for c. What do you recommend, i have downloaded turbo c++/c but i heard that the platform does not perform well for actual projects. I have seen other videos to download c on your playlist like using netbeans. which was terrible because my laptop couldnt handle it. and then there was code blocks, but the platform could not use user input/output properly and then there was atom. it looked great dont get me wrong, however the integrated development environment is crap. any other recommendations?
