Duuuude, this is exactly what I am doing!! you're the only one that has a video / idea that I been doing, using the Rodecaster Pro. However you're using a FAR more higher end setup with that one, specifically. But same concept. I didn't think you'd be someone to actually do a video for those of us that are mix show DJs, and running stations similar to what's shown. Do you actually DJ, (ie mixing, blending etc?)

@@gregmick35 I actually have both. I have turntables, CDJs, and multiple controllers. I mainly use controllers now, it's easier to carry and use as a all in one device. Controllers that I mainly use Pioneer DDJ SX, the 200, the Roland DJ 808, and I have many more that are mainly used for basic needs / essentials. I primarily use the SX & Roland ones. Eventually I will be purchasing more equipment for community / guest DJs to use. Such as the Pioneer S 7, CDJs, and maybe some Rane 12s.

Really good video, it's clear and i will use this system for streaming some DJ sets, but i have a question : When you speak in the mic, your voice go to the stream with the music (because you connect the USB and set in streaming software as audio input) so that's what we want, but did your voice go on the monitoring and hear yourself ?

It generates a buzz noise eventually using the 3.5 input on the rodecaster! I’ve been set up like this since lock down hit, not great for professional environments but does the job for sure if you need a quick fix

I have a DDJ800 with Rekordbox as the music source, however to save space on the desk at home I'd like to use the Rekordbox application on my laptop to send the music to the Rodecaster rather than connect the DDJ800, is this possible?

The pads are on their own channel (the last fader) so they should be heard over anything coming in on any other channel if the fader is up.

Hey I really appreciate this video, but I am using a Pioneer DDJ- 100srt with the Zoom podtrak 8… any suggestions for that combination??

You can probably still apply some of the same principles. I'm not sure the Podtrak 8 allows you to auto-mute monitors. However, you can still route your DJ set up for live streaming or broadcast purposes. Just make sure you wear headphones if you're using a mic!

If you're using software to DJ, you can use the USB channel and just select this as the output on your software - I have another video which covers this on my channel. Just look for 'broadcast live using rodecaster'.

Hello James. Thank you very much for your advice. This is clear to me, but how to preview (PFL) the dj set and the Rodecaster Pro at the same time? I have the Rodecaster Pro outputs (headphone) connected wirh the Dj set mixer outputs (headphone) connected with a small mixer and it works fine, but with the Rodecaster Pro 2 this doesn't work and the left channel of the mixer is practically nullified. Do you know any solution?

No, it was connected using analog audio cables - so same principles apply no matter what make/model of mixer you're using.

Yeah should work - although sometimes booth has prefade so you might not want to broadcast that. Also sometimes called tape out or any kind of second output would work.

This video was made using the first version of the RCP. You can use the microphone inputs on the back on the RCPII as a stereo pair and use 1/4" jack inputs instead. Same principles apply.

From what I can see on Google it looks like there are two master outputs - so I’d use the second for the rodecsster. There are Phono outputs - just like in my video, would have thought that would be fairly obvious?

Hi, curious... any reason why we can't use the XLRs (on the Roadcaster Pro) instead of the mini-jack? also... from 0/10, how's the Music Audio Quality? typically... these Podcasting mixers have a terrible MUSIC AUDIO quality....

The XLR Ports are mono as they are intended for mic inputs (you could use 2 car channels for stereo) whereas 3.5mm jack is stereo. For tech specs about audio quality see rode.com/interfaces-and-mixers/rodecaster-pro

All the specs on their website add to word (MIC) which makes me feel, the pre-amps are mostly designed for MICs... while audio music is left behind... simple question... how's the music audio quality? does it retain all its dynamics or is it a MUFFLED / Dead sound like if it's a radio from the 80's? @WebnBe LTD I don't think it sounds muffled no, you can't really compare it to radio in the 80s? It's a digital device. Ask Rode if you have further questions though.

@@AudioInsider_YT it does sound exactly as I described it, I've already contacted them and waiting for a reply, but I know for sure that the sound would have no dynamics, it will be a pretty much dead sound... like if it's coming from inside a box. The mids (levels) would be so height that it will surely feel like a radio station from that time. I'm sure the Mics will sound good... but it's good to CALL THINGS as they are... this is an expensive unit.

No DJ with normal listening would accept this quality of sound for audio MUSIC. If you do... surely you should be on a different line of work. DJ = Music = Sound... if the sound isn't good... wipe off the rest.

Yes, no reason why you can't use these as additional input channels. However, remember as they are designed for mics, they are only mono channels - not stereo, which isn't ideal for music. One way round this would be to use 2 of the mic channels (so you have a left and right). You'd just need to remember to raise and lower both of the faders if you did this.
