I've not done much sequencing except from the internal sequencers and midi sync and transport control. I come from a background in guitar and like to lay down base sections/loops to then improvise on top of it.

I don't understand...how are you choosing specific notes on a scale?

Just plugged mine in straight away, got along easy enough with just cv but when it tried midi I could only get 8 steps out of it, the other 8 would modulate cv but not gate. Really need to read the manual 😂 to figure out some of the midi tricks. Thanks for showing me how to change midi channels though expect that will come in handy at some point. Also rocking a sub 37 👍but mainly using the cv inputs because 8 step midi sequences get boring & can do all that on the moog anyways.

You can make it act as an arpeggiator, but mainly is a sequencer

Hi, did you need a special cable to connect to the Moog? Is is a midi out to in or another type of connection, cv or clock or gate?

Hi! I used a midi cable. Midi out from the Darktime to the midi in of the Sub37.

Can throuroughly recommend the cp251 for the sub 37, but shop around because price market varies from reasonable to insane 👍

I have not tried it like that. but, here is what the manual says: Sending and receiving MIDI notes Each active step of Dark Time generates and sends MIDI note messages. They are made up of a note-on and a note-off command as well as a MIDI note number. They will define pitch (i. e. note name / number) and note length. These data are channel-related, which means that they will be assigned to and transmitted on one (or more) of the 16 existing MIDI channels. Both step registers of Dark Time independently allow to transmit MIDI data on different MIDI channels. This way you can control two sound generators simultaneously. Dark Time also receives MIDI data: Connect a MIDI keyboard or a controller to Dark Time’s MIDI-In socket (or USB port) and transpose the sequence on the fly while it is chugging away.

if you use a midi keyboard to send midi notes, and you can select midi channels, I don't see why this wouldn't work from your daw you can have 2 different gate and cv outs

Love this. Just got a Dark Time to pair with my Dark Energy (and it's my first foray into the semi-modular world). Any suggestions on integrating the two into my dinsync setup (606/101/202/303)? Can the 606 trigger the Dark Time? Or is there a better solution?

Nice!! 606 can trigger the dark time for sure. I guess what is your go to machine out of the bunch to use. In my case I have the Octatrack as the master because I use that one more. Then dark time as slave.

@@MayenMusic The 606 could send a trigger out to the clock in on the DE? I'm guessing that's the easiest way, but it would have to be a constant pulse like a tom w/ 1/4 notes? Is there another way? At the moment my only drum machine set up is the 606, but I have a 707 I don't use because I don't really love the sounds. At the moment I'm mostly avoiding MIDI sequencing or a DAW.

I saw a video where an SH-09 was trigger by a 606.

One year later I happened back here with the same basic question. I have my scale and 7 notes. How do I dial in those notes on the steps? Also, how do you set the internal clock to a specific bmp? Thirdly, it's obvious that these are the very first things to address, so why aren't you? Either I'm missing something or this is all done very randomly without any control over choosing specific notes and bpm.

Dark Time’s transpose switches can be used to transpose both step registers up or down by one octave. I hope this helps
