Appreciate the kind words. They work fairly similarly to be fair. We find intrusion detection is more accurate, you are able to set a time threshold so the number of seconds the object has got to be inside of the region before it triggers. Often eliminating false triggers. Motion detection is much more basic in terms of zoning.

Just a note of caution. When you set up either line detection or intrusion detection on HikVision cameras the default setting for max area is already set as the size of the screen perimeter. If you get rid of it entirely you'll find your cameras won't detect anything! You need a max detection area set for them to work. I found this out the hard way.

Quick question, I am having two DS-2CD2347G2-LU cameras installed soon, the NVR is going to be DS-7604NI-K1/4P, can you set on the NVR min and max sizes or does that need to be done via the camera interface and virtual host (if so, does that affect notifications) ? Also (excuse my ignorance) If I set Intrusion detection (which I am hoping to) for certain times of the day, will the NVR still constantly record ? Thanks Darren

Hi Darren! Depending on NVR/camera firmware we’ve seen the ability to set min max sizes on the NVR itself. But usually just do it via virtual host. It doesn’t affect the intrusion at all no, just make sure you set the usual settings on the NVR. By default the cameras record 24/7, regardless of intrusion detection schedules. To check the normal recording schedule you would have to go to the storage management page, and check record schedules here.

If you update your firmware to the latest version, then hover over the camera on the live view screen that you want the lines to appear on. There will be a little menu at the bottom, on there is a button which enables/disables the rules.

Thank you so much for this video! I recently installed the Hik-Connect End user app on my phone and finally have notifications of motion and events going to my device! But now I'm inundated with alerts [not a problem now that i'm armed with your video!-- Your video has helped me figure out how to do intrusion detection and log-in directly into the cameras (never did that before) to adjust some of the finer points of detection to stop all the nonsense alarms i was getting. Question for you- the Face detection function, if i enable it, and go into linkage, i have notify surveillance center ticked to get the app notification, but what is the function of the tick box that says 'upload to ftp/NAS, ..." etc. do? does that save an image of the face to my NVR? Hi, thanks for the video it allowed me to easily set up intrusion detection. The only problem I have is that I also get an alert notification on my indoor intercom station. When I disable the NVR notifications on the indoor station, it also disables them on the Hik-Connect app on my phone. Would you possibly know a way to disable them on the indoor station, but not the app on my phone. Thanks

This is one of the best videos ever. I have really been struggling with setting up my camera for animal detection at my house in Kenya. I now have two cameras - DS-2DE54251W-AE T5 and DS-2DE42251W-DE. After much to and fro with the local technical support, I have set up intrusion detection on both cameras (gave up on motion detection). Now only one camera (2DE42251W) gives intrusion alerts and the other remains silent although both are pointing at exactly the same area. Any suggestions?

Hi Ahmad! For IP camera systems, we normally recommend a normal NVR and use an AcuSense camera. Like in this video I’m using a non AcuSense NVR and just an AcuSense ip camera. NVR DS-7608NI-I (8P), or you can use DS-7604NI-K1(4P) for 4 channel. Then for camera there are lots of models, this is a 4MP camera, DS-2CD2347G2-ISU/SL

If you're unsure of your encryption key or verification code, simply go onto your NVRs screen, go to menu, settings/system, network, advanced, platform access, and it is labelled Verification code, if you can't see the code hover over it and click on the closed eye symbol to reveal the code.

Not sure why but on my colorvu acusense cameras both the ds-2cd2087g2-lu and ds-2cd2347g2-lu models I have my motion detection set to only be on from 0:00-6:00 & 18:00-24:00 in the schedule and the only trigger being for the white light to come on yet the light still comes on during 6:00-18:00 due to motion .. 🙄 If you have any idea’s as how I could stop It coming on in the day time hours It would be greatly appreciated .. 🤔

Hi Graeme. The white light shouldn’t come on due to motion detection on an IP ColourVu. You can either let the camera automatically determine when to turn the white light on and off, or you can set it manually via the white light schedule. We’ve got a video on the ColourVu white light

We have a total of 6 camera and guy is telling us he can't set up motion detection on 2 non listening cameras now . Hi Debbie! You’d have to remind me of your dvr/nvrs model number. If it’s a basic dvr chances are it only supports 2 channels worth of detection at any given time as there isn’t enough processing resource.

In the nvr I can only select zone 1 while in the camera there are 4 I can set with each a different sensitivity. Think I solved the issue. As soon as I disabled the local smart analysis (guessed translation from dutch) on the nvr the detection zones that I configured in the camera appeared. Thank you for the fast reply.

Hi David, we would recommend disabling the basic motion detection, and just use intrusion detection. We also recommend you set your recording to 24/7, and then have your intrusion detection alert you.

I’m assuming it’s an IP camera you can’t get access to is it? If so, you’ll need to default the camera itself using the onboard button and reset process explained in one of our videos. Let me know if it’s something else you mean

Good afternoon Andrea, By default when you setup the NVR and IPCS it should say use same password for IPCS, or duplicate NVR password to IP channels. Were the cameras brand new or have they been used on a previous NVR?

Its had a slight update since you made this video and a few things are in different places. I’ve retyped the encryption key which is working fine but I cannot for the life of me get live view working. I then want to set up the strobe flashing between certain hours of the night as a deterrent to any intruders.

Yes, I think you’d struggle without an AcuSense camera or DVR/NVR, just try to ensure the trees aren’t in the zones, even if it means you create multiple zones if your device supports it. Then just trial and error to get it as perfect as possible

Hi David, this is for Hik-Connect use. It is an additional layer of security so that if someone did know your details they would then also need your encryption key to view any cameras. You can find it on your NVRs web interface by going to configuration, network, advanced, platform access, see encryption key and press the closed eye symbol to reveal it.

@@WendellFavacho and what detection method is it you’re using? Motion, intrusion, line cross etc. Also, how long have you had it running for? You’ll often find it trigger in the beginning then a week or 2 later it will stop in some cases due to the learning algorithms
