Good job! Thank you, this helps (Unlike the so-called experts at my local Best Buy) who have no idea what I needed (Docking Station) to set up multiple monitors. Thanks again!

What If I want to use 3 monitors?
@natalieeforsyth6 ай бұрын
This was brilliant - thank you. I just have one question - I am using the docking station with a laptop and the same two additional monitors are also connected to a desktop. Is there a way that when both devices are turned on and I plug the docking station back into my laptop that the screens will auto-detect the laptop rather than staying on the the desktop view? IE. I want the monitors to prioritise the docking station monitors over the desktop even if both the laptop and desktop are turned on at the same time. I hope that makes sense?! Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

so each monitor has 2 video cables - one goes to Dock and other goes to desktop?
@natalieeforsyth6 ай бұрын
@@networktutor640 Correct. Both monitors have a VGA cable and an HDMI cable. The VGA’s go to the desktop and the HDMI’s go to the docking station 🙂

Hi I have 2 display ports and the adaptor cords for those 2 but would like to have a 3rd monitor is there an adapter cord that has multiple ports or do I need to buy a separate HDMI cord for the 3rd monitor. Thank you

Better to get a separate chord. If you use a splitter it doesn’t work well.

I’m using an HDMI splitter, have a laptop and two monitors but only two monitors show in the display settings.
@networktutor640 Жыл бұрын
did you try a different splitter?
@tatakatakashi Жыл бұрын
I also bought an HDMI splitter from eBay thinking it would allow me to use the two monitors to extend my desktop but all it does is duplicate whatever is on my laptop on the monitors =( I think you / we have to buy a proper docking station like the one in this video that specifies it extends the display

I am working for a new vendor and I got one of these to work from home, however my dual monitor setup uses HDMI and the docking station has just 1 HDMI port but 2 displayport ports. Before I go out and buy 2 DP-2-HDMI cables, can I plug one in the HDMI and buy just one cable to plug into DP? I know with Macbooks they can be a pain in the neck when using 2 different plugs. I hate to drive out to BestBuy and buy the 1 cable only to find out I do need 2.

you can buy one and try. but if you get a good deal on two - go for 2 and if it doesn't work return both.

Hi mate, just wondering if you are then able to close the laptop, and use just the 2 monitors while using the laptop's processing abilities. How can I do this? Thanks for the great video.

Hello good sir, I was wondering if this would work with USB 3.0 type A? Because my older laptop does not have USB C...
