How To Setup Nest WiFi Router and Access Point + App Walk Through!
Get your Nest WiFi router and your Access Point mesh system set up and working. The Nest WiFi system can be used as a router, or downstream of your router in your home depending on your setup. You can easily use these to stabilize your home WiFi and to hold connections to hundreds of devices.
I use the Nest WiFi router as my main router and I have one Nest Wifi Access Point to complete my mesh WiFi throughout my whole home. It's a great system that allows me to run one of the most complex smart homes I know.

when I tried to add additional wifi point, it is asking for setupcode or qr code and I do not find any setup code or qr code printed on the bottom of the device or on the packing. Thus now I am unable to add the point. any idea how to fix it?

I did not hear you talk about the Current Router IP"s. I have 35 devices with static IP's. Range 192.168.50.1-255. I notice Google Mesh uses 192.168.86.1-250. Did you change the IP's? of the Google Mesh?

Nest WiFi Router is required to use the Nest WiFi Point at all :)

I currently have a Netgear nighthawk c7000 router/modem combo... do you have to disable the router portion in order to run the nest wifi router and point? i will be doing this tonight but would like to know. thanks!

Oh gosh, sorry...I missed this. You don't have to disable the router portion of your Nighthawk, but it will likely work better over the long run.

How does it work if you have a bunch IoT devices? Basically can I duplicate the the original SSID name on the google Wi-Fi unit?

Yep! Just use the same SSID/Pass combo. Works great with that. I have over 100 devices in my home at all times.

Hey Brian. I'm looking to add a Nest Wifi router to replace the Google wifi point currently used as the router. Reason is the number of gadgets in my house as we've discussed before. So, can I simply add it to replace or is this a bit more complicated as starting it all over? Thanks.

Hey Leo! It's not going to be really tough. In fact, this is what Nest WiFi is built to do. They have a couple options for you, but this is the article you're after. You can basically start the network again and then add the WiFi points in, or there's a second option. :) support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548099?hl=en-CA

Google's Nest WiFi Access Points can't just connect to the existing router as far as I know. You would have to still get a router and point, but per this video you could use it as a router or as a wired in "point" and then you'd have 2

I have a fiber modem/router. How can I use the Nest Wifi router with it? Can I just plug in the Nest router to my modem's ethernet out ports?

@@TechYourLife1 all I have to do is just setup the Nest router? No configuration needed on the modem? I saw from another channel that if your router is built in to your modem, you have to disable the router function in your modem for the Nest router to work, is that true?

I wish the wifi point could be hard wired. My router and point were too close together and caused problem upstairs.

You could totally get a second router and then the system can work together Charles! The setup looks a bit different but you can do it. :)

@@TechYourLife1 Can you also use the older Google Wifi Routers as wifi points? The hockey puck shape ones haha. They got ethernet in and out ports on them to plug in a switch so you'll be hard wired all the way. Will it work with the Nest Router?

Hey Brain, I'm always looking at your video to help me improve my Smart Home setup. My original setup is Google Wifi connected to my IP router/ modem combo. I'm also running SmartThings. I'm looking to upgrade to Google Nest Wifi. I read somewhere that you could switch to the Nest Wifi and still use the Google Wifi as additional points. One of the problems that I have with my original setup is my wifi points not staying in the same ISP address group. Which then gives me weaker signals. Do you have any input about Nest Wifi and Google Wifi working together? Also, do you have any input or ideas to improve ISP issue? Thanks

Hey Robert, I think what you meant to say is that they're not staying in the same IP address group? Either way, they shouuuuldn't do that. I think make sure you use the Nest Router and because that broadcasts further, you might find things are better right off the bat ;)
