HOW TO: Setup OpenTX Radiomaster TX16s for AccuRC RC Simulator

Today's update to AccuRC has the Radiomaster preset!

Holy Smoke this was a god send video. I've had AccuRC for a while using a USB controller, and then got me a Radiomaster TX16S. I've been getting by with each separately, but this just brought it all together. Now the settings in AccuRC AND Radiomaster all make sense, combined and on their own. It was one of those "A Hah!" moments!! Thanks a Bunch!! And BTW I got my Radiomaster from Buddy RC and I tell everyone that this is the place to get theirs.

Great video, thanks for making me understand the consept better. I am a total beginner so i need the simulator to learn tyo fly helicopter. I tried many years ago, bought 6 different helicopters. Tried to set up different radios, tried to understand this myselves. My trex-450 i fly about 20sec, calm up 3-4 meters and full forward and my heli was so sick fast i go round and landed with the rotor down. Next time my trex-250 was standing on my living room table and i should just hover a little, but the heli went straight into the roof. I never flied anymore after that. Then i bought the Accurc, tried different dongle, but could not get the radio to work, i gave up. But now i bought a new radiomaster tx16s because i need no dongle. I set it up like you do here, and everything work well except i see in the simulator that the numbers(%) in your flybarless 3D-Mode is not same as mine. Maybe i should change it to what you have, or what? great video TJ.. now if i can ever get my sim to open on my PC>.. i think i removed it from the main pc cause i have RF9 on it, but it shows on my back up PC but its just not opening. will mess with it more.

Excellent, I`m using a FrSky Tandem X20 on Ethos as the joystick controller and AccuRC auto-recognized my radio under Custom setting! Seems to me better than RealFlight.

I’m trying to do the same. Frsky X20s. My pc don’t recognize more than the 4 basic channels. No bottoms no switch, no dual rates… 😢

I love using AccuRC almost every day. If I crash I crash and doesn’t cost anything, but pride. Lol I did notice in the video you had to switch your elevator in the set up. Did that get changed in the program because I push forward and the Helicopter tilts forward. I did not have to reverse the settings.

If you have newer version TX16S with built in ExpressLRS module, you can use ExpressLRS Bluetooth joystick function to make it work as wireless Gamecontroller for Windows 11. if you have older version TX16S, then you can buy external ExpressLRS module to do the same. Most simlutors will function with bluetooth gamecontroller.

Great video. AccuRC looks like a great simulator for model helicopters. How does the simulator fare when flying drones? What are the physics likes, does the sim handle like a real quad? Could a novice pilot learn to fly a drone using this sim? Thanks, keep the content coming!

AccuRC for helicopters all day long. For drones really want to use any of the solid Sims. I use liftoff mainly but there's others that are good as well. DRL, Velocidrone.

Barry C. At first I had it all working but now I can't calibrate for airplanes properly. Throttle is stuck all the way up. Can't center them either. Is this switch related? How can you be sure your settings are saved? I very much appreciate your video!

Hey man thanks a bunch for a great how to video. I had my tx16s all up and working just by plugging it in but now I can see the proper set up. Question please? John Salt advocates starting to learn in 3D but no negative CP dialled in in order to get used to CP at mid stick zero pitch and turning off the self levelling. Great stuff! At around 3:08, using the usb charging plug mainly to save on battery. How do you do that? It stills run on the transmitters battery so I don’t see how I can save battery power that way? 🤔 Please let me know if that’s the case 😀

Just by turning off the transmitter protocols it won't be draining battery remotely close to normal. Honestly I've never tried plugging in the charging USB while using it for a Sim as its never been an issue. But definitely might try it lol

Bought an RTF drone but might not see that for a few weeks or more, thinking about picking one of these up to use for sims for a while before flying, with it also being a step up from the radio that comes with my drone, so eventually i'd likely be looking at one for gear progression. Do you need to get a battery with it or can you run power through usb charging and fly sims?

The usb isn't enough power, you need the battery in the radio.

Hey, you gave great content , thanks, but i got some trouble with my initial setup... Radiomaster TX16S/AccuRC 2.0! There is not a really connection, because in Device i see my RM TX 16 S Joystick, thats fine, but the red LED beside "Transmitter" should light green, but it dos`nt, also there are no stick-commands:( In your video its all fine and easy, but in my case it won`t Yesterday i contact the AccuRc support, there is absolut no feedback, also today ... already no answer... perhaps you have any idea, whats the problem ??? I´m very disaponted ... greetings from germany Erik

Hey TJ 😊, this time i try if accurc works with some other modelconfiguration from my radiomaster ! Testing it with my preset modelconf. for my TBS Velocidrone simulator , and surprise… this works very well with accurc! Only add 4 switches in this modelsetting flightmode/dualrates/throttlecut/rescue, and it’s done ! Flying in 3d mode is not easy, but it’s a good learnig to use rescueswitch befor crashing the heli 😅 best wishes Erik

I've been using accurate with my spektrum dx6 and satellite dongle. I want to get away from spektrum all together but windows will not recognize my tx16s as a controller I messed with it for 3 hours tonight with no success

okay so my Accurc had to do updates, been a while anyhow everything works except throttle hold why wouldn't that work on my switch? everything else seems to be, i did everything you did in the video.

Late answer, but still. With dual rate you can configure two sets of sensibility. For example, you could want one for calm flying with only 50% of stick range, and one for aggressive flying with 100%. Then you can toggle between the two as you like and while flying, using a switch.

It's just the usb-c cable they include with the radio. Any will work. There's also wireless options

Before all - I had to change USB driver in Win10 to use TX16S as controller...

This is no longer an issue with 2.3.11. They have applied for, and gained access to, a unique ‘usb id’, so starting with 2.3.11, OpenTX users won’t be affected by this issue anymore.
