How to setup SQ5 Groups, DCA, Matrix and FX

Excellent video tutorial. I am learning a lot from you. Thanks a bunch. This mixer is very amazing, for it is highly customizable. I know that most of your tutorials applies to live events, however I can still relate to them even though I only use my SQ-5 in my recording studio.

The extra FX Returns are for if you want more than 4 FX Units as you can setup an AUX to be and FX Send. Just depends on how many Busses and Axes you need for your show. The use case would be if you did a FOH/ Monitor split system where you don't need to use your Auxes for wedges or IEMs at FOH as you have a dedicated monitor console to do all of that. So you could setup a layout where you can run 8 FX Send & Returns & 8 Sub groups if you want if the console is only doing FOH only.

@@pogpogger4381 ok so you go to your FX Return Faders & hit select you then assign and FX unit that you like to that return. you then hit the back panel button to the right of your touch screen. It will say that it's unassigned. Press that button & select the Mix/Return then it will show to columns. Scroll through the first one and find Aux then go to the 2nd column and pick which Aux you want to use as your extra FX Send. Done

Can u explain how to control the amount of dry signal when I insert a reverb to a group ? U mentioned about the FX send but it doesn’t mean I still get my dry signal right? What about using Fx bus and what’s then send fader doing? Is it just acting like a master level for all signals that are sent to the Fx bus, basically like a DCA? Thanks 🙏🏻

Hey, I’m not sure I fully follow your comment but when you insert an effect you have a dry/wet control inside that effect unit. The ‘send’ fader controls the master send level to the effect unit.

I’ve a question on this. I am trying to use one of the additional fx slots to use the IEM glue preset on multi band comp 4 on all of my Aux mixes (musicians using IEMs). How do I do this and still be able to adjust each aux (band members) mix. And not have it being sent twice to them technically.

Can you turn a channel into a group if you have lots of channels left. We have 14 aux. 6 matrixes and only 2 groups because of those in ears and broadcast and extra mixes going to other places. I would like more groups. How can I achieve this

@@PluggedinAV Worked out that i cant make these changes while not connect to the console. One ofther question. I have 5 auxes and am wanting the "Aux 6" button to be. "FX 5 Send' like the 1-4FX Mix. Is this possible??

You have to download that as an additional plugin. It’s free to do but if you go to the Allen&Heath website there are instructions on how to do it
