Instead of disconnecting my internet, during install, when connecting to wi-fi, I UNCHECKED the option for "connect automatically". My HP laptop restarted and then did not automatically log on to wi-fi. I was then able to add several local user accounts using these instructions. This worked on my HP pavilion x360, not sure if it is the same one way on everybody's computers.

So you created a local account without creating a password. When you restart your computer, will you be prompted to log into it?

If you create it without a password it'll just go straight to the desktop from a restart/shutdown. If it is from Sleep it will take you to the Lock Screen but it just says "Login".

If you set it up with a local account with no password then yes, it will just go straight to desktop. You can have a Microsoft account load up straight to desktop using the "Control userpasswords2" method though.

So far, ive found about 2 or 3 methods for doing this one of the other methods that ive found about bypasses the need to connect to the internet in the first place, however, for tablets it will require additional hardware to do (as it requires a physical keyboard)

@@TestName286 there is also a method where you bring up task manager when it is on the connect to the internet screen, and end the task I will have to look up how you do it again, as I can’t remember, there is a video where someone shows how to do this method, but youtube will likely delete my comment automatically if i try to link to it And the third method that i know of requires that you either have a wireless access point that you can shut off to force the computer to disconnect, or that you can connect via ethernet, and unplug the cable once you are past the connect to the internet screen

Can you confirm if this method is still working, please? I am attempting to set up a new HP laptop and this method will not work. I have no access to ethernet ports. The best I could do it wirelessly, at the moment, is using a mobile hotspot to connect and disconnect from.

Yes, that is what I did on my test system in the video. Its actually far easier with wired as you can just unplug it - wireless you either need a Flight Mode button on the keyboard or to get away from a wireless network with internet access.

I didnt find any problem with this.......and wasnt even aware there might be a problem regarding accounts. When I installed 11... I upgraded from 10 (not clean install)....... I gave my microsoft email address and booted up into Windows 11. Since I had forgotten the password to my MS email address I was unable to log into it. In order to get a local account I clicked on Settings.......Accounts.......Your Info - and then I clicked on the option to '' Sign in with a local account instead ''. I have since been running 11 perfectly well with a local account and did not need some 'work-around' during installation to have it working. So why are ppl having problems with it.........is it because they are doing clean installations? IDK but its not been a problem for me.

Yes, you should be able to do it in the same way as with Windows 7 and 10, or 8 and 10 - you have to have a separate partition to install each version on I believe.

To help others that only setup using wifi and windows forces you to connect. Once you get to the sign in page do the following: (Step 1) Shift+F10 (to open CMD) (Step 2) Type in the following: ipconfig/release (This will turn off your wifi) (Step 3) Close CMD (Step 4) Click back button top left corner (Step 5) Sign in with domain name/local account (Step 6) Turn wifi back on when windows loads (Step 7) ENJOY WINDOWS 11

When it gets to the screen where it wants you to log into your Outlook account, turn off your wifi network. 4. Have it try to connect to a fake account. 5. Eventually it will give up and let you create a local account. There ya go!
