I get right to the bit where you press LG thinq in the google app. I press that. It says link successful then nothing happens. It doesn’t do like your app and let me assign the tv to a room. So the tv can’t then discover it when I say ok google ask LG

its not available in your country. Change the location in settings to UK or another place where Google Assistant is available.

Lee West Any third-party apps that are not associated with Google will not be visible on the Google Home however, your account has been successfully linked if it tells you it has.

Can you change TV channels with a google home speaker on a the new google assistant embedded tv's? I want to control the tv without my tv remote to be hands free. LG seems to only want to put power buttons on their tvs so to do anything you must find the remote. Would like to say hey google ask tv to change to channel 12-5. This where google could help me with something while responding to my voice. If you can get a straight answer from google "non" support or LG or any of the other tv manufacturers please share with the class.

Rather than pressing the gear button and then the bottom icon, just hold down the gear button till settings appears.

I spoke with a google home tech support who said specifically the lg TVs do not have in built chrome cast but have miracast instead which is why google assistant will work without a chrome cast with the lg TVs but this is why they don’t appear on google home even after linking accounts etc

I already have LG TV set up in the app and as one of the assistants, I have already added the Thinq app to the app home services. When I try to give the command "Ask LG to ...", he doesn't accept it and says "I can't help ...". What I found different about your tutorial and my settings is that on my TV I don't have the google home app, these settings being integrated with WebOS, allowing only login to my account.

Hello, you can turn on/off your tv by using your chromecast plugged on the hdmi-in port of your tv and activating simlink

Apparently theres something going on with google home and lg. The best thing to do is to use chromecast till they fix it. The LG app isnt working with Google home.

Good video, I did the set up before to connect my google account to the tv, now today I did the home mini to control the new LG smart tv and when I ask google to open youtube on my family room tv two things happens every time, google home mini replays back as usual but also Lg voice, so now somehow I have to listen two both saying the same thing, it is annoying, how can I fix this? I don't like the voice from Lg, I am already used to the female voice from google. Thanks.

if you go LG tv settings / general / location and change all the settings to supported country you get the app showing on tv menu. Now I can log into lgthink but in the next step it doesn’t find the tv. Both are connected to the same wifi

Those who cannot find the Google Assistant. Go to settings and update LG Web OS Firmware to latest version. Then it will appear. Only for those who have LG Smart TV with LG web OS

Strangely, TCL tvs, though not as "premium" seem to work much more seamlessly with Google Home. "Ask [provider] to [action]" isn't necessary - you just tell say "Hey Google, launch KZbin on the TV". It can also turn it off *and* on. Very strange, I'd have thought integration would be more advanced with LG, particularly since LG has assistant built-in.

It has to do with the TV being off and unable to accept commands. Maybe the power saver settings can be changed to keep the TV on standby versus fully off?

After you link LG to Google Home, you must also link LG to Google Assistant. Two separate apps and both need to be linked.
