Can you do a video on like what's acceptable with burn thrus on certain stages. So i saw you had burn thrus here on your primer, so you only need a really light coat of some sealer over them? Cuz you could still see them after the sealer. And then does the size of the burn thru matter? just as long as the burn thru isn't deep to where it made a hard edge you can just hit it with some sealer. Or is there a point where you should add more primer again before sealing. Do you always have to cover a burn thru? Plastic vs metal any difference? And then like if you're scuffing down a used painted panel to like re clear or even paint, i know you want no shiny spots but are any acceptable? How much? I've just seen a few times like there was a shiny spot on a car you painted like on this one it looked like some of the body lines on the car weren't flat but shiny still or was i just seeing it wrong.

Hey Mr. Brian, I’ve got a question that I can’t get a straight answer for. I’m spraying an Eastwood dtm epoxy primer and it says you can recoat within 4 or 5 days. I sprayed it and was going to go over with a 2k after an hour and a half but it’s still a little tacky so decided I’ll wait 24 hours. My question is do I need to clean the epoxy primed panels when I prime tomorrow or just tack rag it?? Thanks for reading this novel lol.

A good rule of thumb is to do the "finger test".👈 Touch the masking tape next to the the panel you are working. If it is stringy wait. If it is tacky and isn't stringy you can apply the next coat!

Why aren't your spray booths climate-controlled so you always maintain the same temperature and humidity levels? Doing so will eliminate two variables that are easily controlled.
@StevenWatson-f5wАй бұрын
You cannot have a temperature control spray booth! When you turn the fan on, it sucks out all the air in the booth and replaces it with the outside fresh air.....which is not temperature controlled. It is always good to understand how a system works before giving advice on how to improve it. I say this not to offend but to inform. Keep your stick on the ice fella!
@torydzАй бұрын
@@StevenWatson-f5w No, what I am talking about is an enclosed system which recirculates the air and filters out impurities. That air is then sent under positive pressure into the spray booth, and the air is recirculated back to the air collector which brings it back into the booth. Similar (but on a larger scale) to what central heating and cooling in a home does, where you have a delivery system for sending the warm or cooled air into the house, and sending it back through the return system.
@StevenWatson-f5wАй бұрын
@@torydz all the systems you describe take air from the outside, voc's cannot be filtered they have to be removed altogether, which is why water borne paint came into the picture.... honestly it is too much to explain.....over a hundred years of painting cars, if it was possible and cost effective, it would be done.

Over here in uk there’s no such thing as sealer but it does look like wet on wet primer which can be bought. Over here, it is 1 of 2 things. It is just an actual specific product you can buy, OR, it’s basically just overthinned over reduced high build primer (but that’s not as good as buying an actual wet on wet primer).
