I purchased some Ellie and Mac patterns and ordered fabric. These are my first knit projects. I am so excited. I started sewing this summer. It's a nice hobby that I can stop and go with my lifestyle.

What a pretty pattern! Great job of teaching…especially on the facing and darts! I’ve never done them like you do where you cut the dart out of the pattern piece and use it as a template to mark the fabric but I’m going to try that because I think it will make sewing the darts so much easier. Also, I’m so glad to see a woven pattern since wovens are my true fabric love. I hope Ellie & Mac comes out with more patterns for wovens. Also, once again your dress is SO ADORABLE!

I don't know what stay stitching is- is it just a regular stitch? What is the seam allowance?

What kind of basting product do you use? Do you have to wait 4 hours for it dry or like the next day?
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC3 жыл бұрын
for basting I use a long straight stitch on my sewing machine.
@blueoctopus62 жыл бұрын
I think you may be getting mixed up with spray baste, used for quilting? In sewing as Deanna says it's the longest stitch on your machine to tack the bits together. No backstitch at beginning or end. It makes it easier to pull out and reposition.

I usually watch your videos to get an idea what the item looks like In real life as I'm a reasonably proficient sewer. Maybe it would be more helpful to show things like the actual understitching in detail, and explain that you can't get the whole way along? Rather than spending time showing how to pin a straight seam? Or how important it is to get the straps correctly positioned for a good finish. Also ,top tip, adjust the straps on the front, it's so much easier.

I like you instructions, and how easy you make it, but please slow down when you are stitching so that we can see where and how you are actually sewing.
