Hi! I've just finished a linen gingham skirt with the lace at the end (made a top from the same fabric at the start of June). Also last week I finished a dress for my best friend's wedding (I'm a bridesmaid). It's made of semitransparent blue cotton fabric, there is a white cotton layer underneath and lots of lace as well!

I just bought a stack of gorgeous sheets from my fave op shop and was kindly gifted a printed copy of Peppermint magazine's Tansey Top, which I think I'll hack into a dress for summer. 🌞

This dress is so freaking cute! But do you know what's even cuter?.. YOU! I honestly can't deal, you're so sweet and I love your kind nature. Your taste and your attitude reminds me so much of my own. I'm so so happy to see sewing like this. Being "perfect" while sewing is so overrated and low key stresses me out! 😅 Far more important that love and that flair 🔥 has gone into the creation and I TOTALLY get that vibe from you. Love from a fellow Australian sewer 💕

I made a multi tiered ruffled skirt for my 4 year old granddaughter. Of course it was, to quote her, "pink and purple and sparkles and rainbows and unicorns." And yes, I did find that exact fabric in Spotlight. She loved wearing it and it countless twirls. I hand stitched the bottom hem which honestly took as long as making the rest of the skirt.

Your gathering feelings are so, so real. The colors on this are so cute! I just finished a crochet/macrame water bottle holder that I ran out of cord for and had to use a very-not-matching-but-same-gauge cord, and I'm call it an Accent™. I am loving the Syd Graham Tie Top right now! ♥

This is soo pretty!! I adore the softness of the fabric and it's flow.. So beautiful! I wanted to do so much sewing this summer ,but it's turned into a summer of physical recovery for my body and dealing with chronic pain issues... SO I'm trying to be gentle with my brain and not feel guilty about what I was unable to start, and just push plans back a little... One day I want a more me made wardrobe of clothes vs. stuff I purchase.. I love the idea though of using the upper part of a different garment to start this project! I may have to try that!!!

hello new friend! I found your channel earlier this week and I'm kind of obsessed with this dress...I love upcycling and started my dress last night with a white collared top and lots of pale grey scraps. This is the first time I've gathered fabric. I have the first tier attached, and the second tier ready to gather. I'm surprised how good it looks because I'm fairly new to sewing. Your instructions are super easy to follow. I'm happy to use some really pretty fabrics I didn't know what to do with, and it's fun seeing how the garment comes together. I'm not really a dress person but I can't wait to wear this one...

I have a few really nice buttoned shirts that I've outgrown, but I love the patterns on the fabric too much to get rid of them. I've decided to give my green moth shirt a second life by following this tutorial! Thanks for the great way to upcycle something I otherwise wouldn't be able to wear 😎

I was wondering if your overlocking stiches will come undone. I always thought you had to leave a tail of overlocking (that’s not on the fabric) at the start and end of the stitch, because otherwise it’s not secured. But if you batch overlock it and then cut them apart, wouldn’t it unravel? How can you prevent that? Because generally I loveeee that trick 🥰
@fromcarlyb4 ай бұрын
I've never had this issue as I will immediately sew that portion of the skirt (where I cut through the overlocking) into the bodice or tier above it - securing the stitches in the seam/overlocking. I hope that helps!!
@mariemuller32393 ай бұрын
@@fromcarlyb thank you so much for that answer. It actually helped a lot. I saw your latest video as well, where you talked about this, mentioning that if you don’t sew over it again you tuck in your overlocking ends. Love that explanation ❤️
