Well, honey, bless your heart! Let me just tell ya somethin' right here and now: sittin' in this ol' rocking chair on my front porch, watchin' the paint peel off the shutters, I feel like I’ve lived ten lives over and still got the energy of a chicken in a cornfield. Now, don’t go makin’ fun of me, but yes indeed, I’ve been 153 years old for as long as I can remember-and, oh, my DAYS, has it been a journey! You brought up my brain rot disorder, and let me tell you somethin', sugar plum, I’m convinced it’s real! Why, just yesterday, I was sittin’ there, tryin’ to knit myself a potholder (or was it a hammock?) and my brain said, “Ching a ho, ching a hee!” and all I could think of was chicken nuggets. Why nuggets, you ask? Well, it’s the mystery of my age. I reckon I’ve eaten enough nuggets to build a golden tower to the moon! Gadagdeegadagado! That’s what I holler every time I see one of them little crispy fellas, but the doctor said, “Grandma, maybe stop makin’ that noise in the supermarket.” Now, here’s where my hypocrisy comes in thick like molasses on a cold winter mornin’. I’m always yappin’ about “this new generation” and how they’ve gone and lost their marbles with their gadgets and their phones. I mean, Lordy, back in MY day (or so I say), we played with sticks, stones, and our imaginations! But the truth is-I’m worse than them young whippersnappers. I’m GLUED to my phone! I’d strap it to my hand if I could figure out how to use duct tape without stickin’ my fingers together. Why, I take it with me everywhere-yes, even the bath, darlin’! There I’ll be, sittin’ in my clawfoot tub, bubbles up to my chin, scrollin’ through somethin’ or other on that contraption. “Hot scrub and a TikTok,” that’s my motto these days. Ain’t that just a hoot? And let me tell ya another thing-I have the audacity, the downright gumption, to tell my grandbabies that they need to read a book! Meanwhile, I’ve got every e-book app downloaded onto my phone. Oh yes, ma’am, I tell them, “You should go outside and play like I did.” Meanwhile, I haven’t seen my own yard since 1972 unless it’s through the window while I’m takin’ a selfie. Ain’t it just shameful? But don’t you tell nobody now-I got a reputation to uphold at the senior bingo hall. Oh, honey, sometimes I sit and think, “What a mess I’ve made of things,” but then I remember my 153 years have been filled with enough yap yap and shenanigans to make up for any amount of gadget addiction. If the good Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll keep chattering about “the good ol’ days” while secretly knowin’ I’m just makin’ it all up as I go. Life’s too short-even when it’s unbelievably long-to do anything but laugh at yourself and keep the hypocrisy flowin’ like sweet tea on a summer’s day. Now, excuse me, my phone’s buzzin’, and I’ve got a notification about some chicken nugget meme that I just can’t miss. Gadagdeegadagado, sugar!

I got started sewing by making dolls from my own patterns i scribbled on lined paper lol. it was a lot of fun because I had to figure things out on my own and also because if you mess up clothing on a doll you’re wasting a lot less fabric.

Idk if you’ll see this so late, but there is a technique to sew a thick cuff! It’s hard to explain written, but you fold up once, topstitch, then you foldthe cuff from the halfway point a little bit past the topstich line, covering it, then you iron that in place and tack the sides. It gives the illusion of a double rolled hem, but not the full cuff depth and weight.

The HORSE MIC! Is well missed 😂 Thank you so much for showing us your new design and CONGRATS GIRL!!!!! Weddings are so FUN!!!! Also I always thought that a dress is very important for the bride but the bride is the work of art that GOD had created already for her husband to be!!!! Genesis 2:22-24: "The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man”".

Hi! Ive been binge-watching you for the last week or so... maybe two weeks(?). I'm working on a dress thats been i my head for the past three months, I started working on the pattern like 3 days ago, yesterday finish the toile for the bodice, I made 2 different patterns because I wasnt pleased following the fisrt book and then I opted for the Pattenrmaking for fashion design by Helen Joseph-Amstrong and I was so satisfied with the result for the corset-like bodice, yesterday I made the skirt pattern and today I'm sewing the toile and figuring out how to put the two together, and hope to finish it soon to wear it on new years eve 🤩

perhaps adding sequins to the white space between the dress design would be the way to go? this way the design is clear but you still get the shimmer

Your first one fit you in the bust really good. You should go with that one and just adjust the back to tie instead of hook. That's What I think. I've been sewing for 60 yrs
@divinenonbinary14 күн бұрын
I think the issue with the bust is that you’re trying to reduce it through adding darts. Which essentially just pulls the fabric of the entire piece forward and is why the back gets that big of a gap. If you look at the pattern in 3d and deometrically , to reduce certain extremities you have to put the og piece on you, than make sure all vertical lines stay in place (such as side seam, center of the front, then centers of the bust and from there you would see in which areas you would need to adjust without pulling the material away from the back. I also think actually in this case the material coming off of your body at the neckline might actually suggest not too big of a busy but the opposite - if the piece is too flat/narrow, then the top line is gonna stick out. So by introducing darts you’re using existing fabric available to you to create the bust shape instead of adding extra to the bust line directly and keeping the top/neckline the same length. Does it make sense to you what I’m trying to say?
@divinenonbinary14 күн бұрын
Btw since the issue is in the back, I have missed if you actually tried to add extra width to the back instead? I see you keep adding it to the front/bust part but what if it’s the back that needs extra space and then you can lace it up as tight as you want without the extra pressure? Because the center of your back and the side of your torso sit at a certain distance and the garment should accommodate that distance for a proper fit
@divinenonbinary14 күн бұрын
I would also use a tool itself to add changes maybe even very sloppily, to kind of build onto it until I’m satisfied and then maybe even not unpick but cut the pattern pieces out and add new seam allowances once I’ve achieved the fit I want
@divinenonbinary14 күн бұрын
I think as long as the glistening corresponds with the embroidery on the fabric it really enhances the quality, maybe have to watch out against bunching up some glitters in a n empty unebroidered area to not distract from the pattern? Also I think only very intense and dense glitter placing would really be an issue. Shiny is very pretty. I do think it might be of value to at least use different intensities of color separately for example with one thread place all the white/light sparkles and the other use for darker more pronounced colors because if you mix them up on one thread, it would be a little tricky to edit in case you would see and decide that one of the colors doesn’t fit in or need to be reduced in amount

Wait what is this too and blouse you’re wearing?? Have you made them? Is there a video? 👀👀👀👀
