What fabric do you use for the lining please? This is amazing xx

These videos are very well done! I am a latin dancer and have found it really difficult to find tutorials of techniques for non-stretch fabrics (esp beyond the basics like using a ballpoint needle etc). I really appreciated the detail in this and how easily it can be applied to making any dance costume. I am about to start drafting/sewing dance costumes designed by a friend and this was great reassurance prior to starting! Great work!

One technique that will make rhinestone application faster is putting your glue in a plastic syringe to put the dollop directly on the costume and using a rhinestone picker to pick up and place the rhinestones. A rhinestone tray is also great to keep the rhinestones facing the right way. I used to do the te unique you do here and with this other approach I can put rhinestones on two times faster at least. Hope it helps save you some time!

Perfectly made! Absolutely beautiful 🤩

For your applique work it would save you time if you use heat and bond iron on and then stitch the color that matches the applique. I use it for costuming.

Absolutely loved this video! Do you mind telling me what mannequin you have there? I desperately need a good adjustable one!!
@PeachPlastic2 жыл бұрын
The adjustable mannequin looks like the one made by "Prym". I'm not sure they have one in red, but it should be a comparable-enough make regardless. They're pricey but less so than a custom-made one.

Beautiful!! I would just add what pattern you used. Also which fabric did you use and where did you order?
@scarletandstitch5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My pattern was self drafted otherwise I definitely would have shared which pattern I used :) I buy my fabric in store since I'm fortunate enough to live near a fabric shop that focuses on performance wear. But I just use 4 way stretch lycra.

Funny enough, I found stretch fabrics "easy" to sew with cause it hid some imperfections on fit. Obviously it's not completely true for all. This is a great tutorial! What serger do you have? Ps. You're such a natural on camera!

I agree, I love sewing stretch fabric! I have the Janome 4DX and it's great. And thank you so much!

Great job. Next time for the appliques, use a wood burner. Works wonder on garments I sew.

I think this costume is awesome! but I'm not sure it helped me get better at sewing with stretch fabrics. I would love to know how to fix the issues with my sewing machine when I try to sew stretchy fabrics eg skipped stitches and all that nastiness. Maybe you could talk about all those difficulties in another tutorial!
@scarletandstitch5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the feedback! I will definitely make a video in the future addressing these issues :) that's a great idea!

What type of sewing machine is that if you dont mind me askin?

My sewing machine is the Janome Skyline S7 and my serger is the Janome 4DX
@luvulol5 жыл бұрын
Is that one size fits all? How do you measure to fit all types of body. What fabric is it?
@scarletandstitch5 жыл бұрын
It's Lycra. I use body specific measurements such as hips & full bust to make a pattern specific to those measurements.
@Andrea_Rodriguez4 жыл бұрын
Quick question Can you just skip the sewing machine and go right for the serger?
@scarletandstitch4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I often do, sometimes I just like to use both but it's definitely not necessary 😊 if you're just going to use your serger I'd use a 4 thread overlock opposed to a 3 thread though.
