Hi! can you make a video about sleeve cuffs or pant hems on machines that do not have a free-arm? Thank you.

I've used Iron on fusing instead of tape. Is there a benefit of one over the other?

Great video! Will waterproof seam tape do the same work?
@BenMyton5 жыл бұрын
The seam tape will work, yep. It uses a bit wider tape versus folding both flaps over in one direction, but it gives you a nicer finished look and keeps the seam flaps from sticking out into the inside of the un-lined bag.

Great videos. What machines do you recommend for outdoor gear sewing projects? I have a Singer Heavy Duty, but find it lacking a bit for the projects I want to do. I've been looking at a Juki DDL 8700. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Do you always do a 3/8" seam allowance instead of 1/4" ?
@BagBuff Жыл бұрын
Defintely. But I mainly do gear, not clothing. The only reason I would do less then 3/8" is when I want less bulk in the seam, which is a very rare use case for my projects.

Hi, can You Tell me why when i sew faux leather the bottom one is not even with the top one in the end?
@BagBuff Жыл бұрын
This means your feed dog and foot are feeding at different rates. The fix depends on the type of machine you are using.

I just want to know if it is a normal double sided tape or is it something specific to fabric. I am new to sewing and I have tried to use double sided tape and it works great. However, I find I'm getting tape glue build up on my needle which is causing a few problem.

Hi Steve, what sort of seam finish would you recommend on a canvas wax tote bag? Thanks Candace
@BagBuff4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this is highly dependent on so many factors!
@Pinkkandi754 жыл бұрын
The seams would be exposed.

@@Pinkkandi75 Side seams?
@Pinkkandi754 жыл бұрын
Yes, inner side seams
@BagBuff4 жыл бұрын
Pinkkandi75 depends on the design. Easiest option is to sew and bind. Other options is to use a lining and do a bucket style. Some people like to do French seams. Others like to serge it. It all depends on the design and the production tools at hand.

Me: (in existential crisis about why I started to sew in the first place) I wonder if Stephen has a YT vid about this. Stephen: Hold the top thread down before you start your seam Me: .... Me: ............. Me: S^&*! Thanks man, you're the best!! I got some great seams going now.
