I wanted to make pouches to give away as gifts and I bought zippers and fabric and cut out about 30 of them, however I've viewed several videos and my zippers never looked quite right. I could not agree more. I have hated and dreaded making top-zip bags because of how mine have come out in the past. I always end up dialing the zipping down a bit and putting it on the front of bags a couple inches from the top. Which is fine, but I like to be able to master more than one way of doing these.

you'd need to add tabs to your zipper if you want to cut it and make it look good :)

Or learn to work with bulk zipper chain in plastic/nylon like YKK makes (number 5 a good choice or 8 if you want really robust), you can stich across it for the most part and make it any length you need/want.
